Always. I call it de-boning the magazine. I can't relax and read it until it's clean.

But it's too true that for the price of many magazines now days, there are just too many pages of ads.

No, I like the ads.

I shake out all the little inserts though.

I don't tear them out. Most of the magazines I peruse are home decor or fashion focused and the ads can feature lovely rooms or items and great clothes and accessories.

I shake out the cardboard inserts, but I can't imagine going through all the pages and ripping out the ads. I just flip past them. Having said that, I'm not much of a magazine reader…..mostly just Consumer Reports.

No, but I do remove the mail in inserts. None of the magazines are what they used to be which is why I have cancelled my subscriptions on all my favorite ones...Better Home and Gardens, Southern Living, Woman's Day, and Family Circle. They got to be a total waste of money.

No, I don't do that. For heavens, I don't know why anyone would do such a thing? Actually, I buy fashion and women's magazines for the adds, I like see new things. I love the pictures. I do throw out those subscription cards that are aggravating. Why must they stuff 10 of those in a magazine?

Re: Magazines: Tearing out ads before reading

I no longer touch any magazines that are in doctor's offices or any kind of public place. But when I did long ago, that was one of my pet peeves as well. So many individuals think only of themselves. Tearing a magazine apart in any public place is rude and inconsiderate.

Funny you mentioned this OP. My mom always did this. Thanks for the memory I had forgotten.
