I’m so sad about this. I keep hoping that mall shopping will undergo a resurgence in popularity as people become bored and look for something to do.

If the macys here closes,  it will be the end of the mall. I never go there ,except to pennys.

That is sad news. All those stores & people loosing their jobs. I sure hope Macy’s in our mall doesn’t close. Our mall is going thru some tough years. I was there this past Saturday & so many stores have closed. Sears closed a couple of years ago. I read in the paper that a huge revival/ remodel is planned but that’s years down the road. I fear they may run out if time.

This is sad.  They closed one free standing Macy's in Greensboro NC about 2 years ago.  The one at the mall closed before that one.  There is only one left at a shopping center.

I just saw in the paper that they are closing one in Winston Salem at Hanes Mall too...

I am very saddened by the news that Macy's is shutting down so many of their stores.   So many of us grew up with parts of our world that are now becoming extinct.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to see this happening and it makes me very sad.

The mall near me in Seattle already has pretty much closed except for The Rack, the food court, Bed Bath and Beyond, DSW and Barnes and Noble, plus some random restaurants. In fact Macy's has been completely demolished and will be replaced by a hockey training facility. Now the downtown Macy's is in trouble. The building is a historic designation, and already Amazon has the top floors for offices. I don't know what they will do with the rest. The era of brick and mortar stores is a thing of the past. It's a bereavement for another time and place.

Our local Macy’s closed last year and Christmas shopping wasn’t the same at all.

I'm not surprised.  That's where the future is taking us.  Online shopping isn't a trend that will go away.  It's growing in leaps and bounds and as it does; b&m stores will cut back or leave the scene completely.  My 6 year old niece had some Christmas money and her Daddy told her he would take her to the mall to shop.  She wanted to go to the mall but just to have McDonald's in the food court.  She wanted to shop on Amazon.

while i would hate to see it go, i have to say that the customer service in our macys is pretty poor. i was in today looking for a few perfumes to send overseas. there was ONE sales associate in the entire makeup/perfume department and that is a pretty large area for one person. i walked out and went to a kiosk in the mall that has lots of fragrance choices to find what i was looking for.

our macys as a "last act" area on the first floor. do they all have that? it is similar to a nordstrom rack.

We have 2 Macy's stores that are only 1 mile apart. Wonder if one of them will close. They are both in malls.
