Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

@chrystaltree

So true about the kids wanting "A" gc's.

My 7 yr old gd was going to a bday party and asked her "what did you buy your friend?". Answer:  Grandmom all my friends (and me) only want "A" gift cards.

Yup...totally different from when my kids used to take hours to get just the "right" gift for friends for bday parties...

no more

I also heard from gd no more bday parties because kids just tell their friends "you don't really need to come just me the gift card!🤷‍♀️

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

Sad to see this.  Macy's is my favorite store.  We have a very nice Macy's where I live.  I was just in there today.  I'm not much of an online shopper.  It's been well over a year (maybe 2) since I last shopped with QVC and I've never shopped with Amazon.   I actually enjoy going to the mall.  I like being able to look things over and try things on.  No need for shipping charges and the hassle of returns.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

For someone who loves getting in her car and shopping at stores, this is just another sad situation.  While there are many stores in my area of variety  and I can find whatever I want, I know many stores can't compete.  Job loss is the worst part.

I will not depend on Amazon for my every need and in fact tell people not to give me Amazon gift cards.  I have my reasons which will remain private.  This is my choice just as the choice of on line shopping is for others.

I hope Macy's can manage to stay open and not completely close.  I always loved going to the Manhattan location especially at the holidays and have been doing so since a young girl.

I like options and choices and as long as I have them I will continue to shop at stores and enjoy the experience.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

The Macy's closest to me is closing this spring.  It is such a filthy, dirty store.  I never shop there, it is so gross.

I drive 15 minutes to another Macy's that is night and day different.  Honestly, I hardly shop at Macy's anyway.

We really don't have any really nice department stores in my area...Macy's is the only one around that is half way decent.

If I need to shop at a higher end store, I drive to King of Prussia...almost two hrs away. I was there this past week.

As soon as flu season is over I hope to get to Macy’s again.  Hope my store is still open.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

I'm not surprised.  Macy's has really gone downhill regarding their merchandise and service.  Year after year it is the same stale merchandise and they continually have "sales" because their "regular" prices are outrageously high.

I miss our former locally owned department store than Macy's bought out about 20 years ago.  They continually had fresh, quality merchandise and fantastic customer service.

I never understood why Macy's merchandise is so blah, you'd think their buying power would enable them to bring in new designs and more variety.  They could still have an on-line business but their stock is even more dismal online than in their b&m stores.

Our local Nordstrom's store closed last year.  The nearest one to our town now is about 45 miles away.

Wave of the future, I guess.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

This is so sad.  We all grew up with Macy's.  I know I am part of the problem...rarely shop in B & M stores.  Haven't set foot in a Macy's in years.

I wonder how much longer they will be able to do the July 4th fireworks and Thanksiving parade.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

We are down to just 2 Macy's here...one is great...it is big, clean, has been remodeled and updated recently and it is in the one decent mall remaining here. The other one is old, dingy and in a mall that is on its last legs. Pretty limited options here outside of Macy's and one Lord and Taylor store...no Nordstrom, Bloomingdales or anything like that. Macy's does have a good selection of brands and pretty good sales also including the "Friends & Family" Sale when the all the good brands excluded from coupons are discounted.

I am not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

I just hate to hear this. I have always loved Macy's and can always find something that works for me. I'm trying to do my part to keep them going! I can't buy my clothes on line, as I have to try things on.

Re: Macy’s closing 125 stores

So sad.  On the other hand I never go to one.

I remember that Borders closed the week I got my first reader.  What a guilt trip for me.
