Lots of salt and fat, no fiber, but at least some protein.

Could be much worse.  Cold cereal loaded with sugar?  Pastry?  Sugar filled breakfast bar?

or a shake

I never made food a battle ground when mine were little

@jackthebear

Exactly!  What is a "healthy" breakfast?  Each of us have a different opinion of what foods are healthy.  For me, healthy food is anything I can eat that sits well with my digestive system.

Re: Mac n Cheese for breakfast ?

Although boxed Mac n cheese is high in salt, it does have protien, carbs and low in sugar. I think it is an ok choice for a kid for breakfast. Certainly better than boxed cereal. A grilled cheese Sammie and some fruit makes a decent breakfast for kids. Not everyday but a couple times a week.  Might give them a good start compared to cereal, ding dongs, donuts and breakfast rolls

Re: Mac n Cheese for breakfast ?

They are saying there is nothing wrong with lunch or dinner breakfast. Breakfast should start the day off with some good protien, carbs and low sugar. Some people get sick on neavy breakfast and a piece of toast with PB and J if great. At least with breakfast, unless the kids eat breakfast at school you know what they are eating. I have seen the waste in cafeterias , omg. You could feed a a third world country on the food that goes untouched. How kids can feel no guilt throwing food away I don't know. Never been hungry I guess

Re: Mac n Cheese for breakfast ?

I'm guilty of sometimes allowing my son to eat whatever he wants for breakfast.  He loves the "blue box" mac n cheese we make with added real cheddar cheese, so if it's available he will eat that.  I usually make him add a meat with it though.  Enough protein and carbs in that meal to make it at least six hours.  Way better than cereal does.

Not ideal but probably better than cereal loaded with sugar.

Sugar wise, macaroni is better.  Nothing really wrong with it.  Provide you don't eat it everyday.  On the other hand rice, is sustainable life for people in the third world and is eaten everyday, three times a day.

Re: Mac n Cheese for breakfast ?

I have a feeling that, as an adult, the mac and cheese child will have fond memories of his favorite breakfast.

This thread brings back vert fond and heart-warming  memories of my occasional  spaghetti breakfasts.......

Thank you, mom.  Heart

My 4 yr. old grandson went on a mac and cheese binge for a week or 2.

My DIL scrambled and egg and mixed it in for breakfast..dinner she mixed in chop meat.He ate every bit.

Mom's need to be a little sneaky.

Re: Mac n Cheese for breakfast ?

Strangest thing I ever ate for breakfast was cup of noodles.  I wolfed it down.  Loved it.
