It always saddens me that so many women on the board are always quick to jump the gun without knowing the facts.

Quick to blame and shame other women. Shameful Woman Sad

Just because a woman takes a photo does not give anyone the right to publish it without her consent. That is blaming the victim for something she has not agreed to.

The same as saying she asked for it.

Yes, ITA .... but you always have to weigh the risk in your actions.

It's like leaving a $50 bill on the sidewalk, and someone picks it up and walks away.   Yes, it was wrong for the person to take it, but the likelihood someone would do that is pretty high, don't you think?

Same with nude photos, IMO.

@Tinkrbl44

Are you saying women Marines should never shower or undress for bed?

I'm surprised you are blaming women who had no idea they were being photographed in the altogether.

These are women, some in the front lines, who fight for our country while some silly women on a BB blame them for being a victim.

@Noel7

Are you referring to MY posts?    You weren't really clear, but maybe that was on purpose.

I posted this thread after watching the interview on GMA .... and the photos and a sex video were consensual.    I find it odd that a woman would think an ex boyfriend would "keep them private", especially in this era of selfies, instagram, etc.   Plus, If the relationship ended badly, there's no telling where the photos would end up.    Yes, I do believe women need to think ahead.

I also find it sad that so many men seem to think this behavior is acceptable ... part of the guys club nonsense.  And I hate to "blame women" .... but why didn't their MOTHERS raise them to respect women?   Good question, IMO.

What I HOPE happens is that the military starts punishing men who violate female marines ....  even rapes that are reported often times are ignored or dismissed with not so much as a scolding.

IMO, there needs to be severe penalties and even Dishonorable Discharges or Bad Conduct Discharges imposed.  I hope enough people are incensed enough to complain to our government officials.   Men in the military get away with too much bad behavior.   JMO

Let's not forget that the armed forces are greatly made up of 17-18 year olds, still "boys" IMO.   (Not to excuse the bad behavior, however.)

Sorry no this is not the same thing. Unless you are saying Male Marines have no moral code and this should be expected. My late ex was a Marine during Tailhook this and things that have gone on in the Military to abuse, demoralize and demean female Marines as well as Civilians is just wrong and the Dept. of Defense as well as the Marine Corp need to be held responsible for this. As well as those who took the photos and posted them.

Lets remember that if this happened in the civilian world they would then be facing charges in adult court or juvenile. No excuse for this behaviour. That is the problem the old boys will be boys mentality has gotten us to this mess.
