I've said in every thread about Jill's leaving that I will miss her quiet, unfrantic presentations.  Most of the newer and the newest crop are barely watchable.  IMO, the handwriting is on the wall.  QVC is going for a younger demographic, which I highly doubt they will get with the stale and repetitive products and vendors that are pushed on us.  As for disposable income-and time-the younger demographic that Q wants has neither, in most cases, not all.  The really young have huge student loans, the 30s, 40s, and 50s usually have mortgages and car payments, children who are active in sports, etc.  The demographic QVC wants to replace are the ones with spare time and some extra money but of course not all.

As i said, I'll miss Jill and wish her well.  But I also don't buy the "spending more time with family" speech. I've been around too long and that's usually not the case.

I watched a pro this morning presenting with Linea: Mary Beth Rowe. Always polished, well prepared, and unassuming. She did not put lip gloss on over and over during her presentation, she did not take her shoes off and jump on the couch, she did not feel the need to change into every single ipiece of clothing presented, and she did not scream out  in a voice that would wake the dead! Please give “Mary-Beth-Rowe” classes to the new crop of hosts.

And she also didn't do the one thing I wanted....ask what numerical size the models were wearing in the shantung jacket!

I will miss Jill. The older hosts who have been there the longest are becoming fewer & fewer. They’re the best ones.

I wonder who’s next on the chopping block?

The longest tenured hosts would seem to be Dan, Rick, and David; Jane and Mary Beth.

I think Mary Beth should train all of the hosts.  She is personable, intelligent (does not try to entertain us), speaks clearly and not loudly, her nails are appropriate for showing jewelry, etc.

When she's on the air, I enjoy watching her.  Not much more to say.

I think Jill does a good job.  We all have our 'favorites'.

I just caught the end of her saying she was leaving.  What did she say why she was leaving?

I know she has a beach cottage.  My guess is she wanted to enjoy the Summer.  Seems interesting since her children are so much older now.

I think that's when children need you even more, when they get older.  Just my thoughts.

She doesn't owe anyone a reason for why she wants to leave.  It's really her business.  If she said why, that was nice of her, but not necessary.  We don't really know what is going on in her family.  Hopefully, it is to enjoy her life.

Actually I have seen a huge difference in the way Jill's YHJ shows have changed over the last 4-6 months.  I always got a sense that Jill took a lead in the programming design for her YHJ shows since she has a great eye for decorating and design,  BUT, these shows have diminished in her running the show with featured products that relate to home design.  Yesterday, YHJ was all about the end of the gardening products season and her show revolved around what had been presented numerous times during the day; just not a YHJ show.  This has been the way her shows have functioned over the last whatever number of months....simply not the Jill's version of YHJ and I was looking forward to yesterday's show before her stint with Scott Grimes and JAI jewelry for their last show together!  I wonder if the merger and "change in programming" has affected some hosts career decisions?  I personally have found the changes unappealing and poorly designed, website technology has not improved, and many other things including hosts, has led to my major disinterest in QVC as it has been functioning lately!

I agree, not only YHWJ but the same thing with the much ballyhooed Down Home With David all it was nothing but products that had been shown over and over again like that shredder, rowenta iron, surge protectors, etc etc....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

Mary Beth does most of the training....

From Kerstin's Blog...

When we have new hosts come on at QVC, all of us are committed to their success. Mary Beth Roe leads the months and months of new host training but the rest of us all have our part in getting them ready for their debut.

Here's 2 Facebook videos Mary Beth introduces new hosts

Rick and David started after Jill. David went to Europe with Jill when he was just new.  Rick came close to the time Losa R did.

Jane is at 30 years and dan close.  Pat is just behind them.

Do you think she might be the next to go?

QVC “changing the guard” appealing  to younger viewers/shoppers with more disposable income than the current old, and retired viewers.

--------------------

If this is the future plan for the Q, I think they are sadly mistaken.  I know several family members and friends in that age group who would probably NEVER consider buying from QVC.  They are not going to sit and watch a twenty minute product presentation. Q products are just not what they want to spend their income on....
