@amyb I watched one of Brenda Gantt videos on YT. No idea why I picked it.

She was making dumplings I think. She dumped a whole bag of flour in a bowl, made a well or bird's nest as she called it. Added Crisco, didn't measure it, said about the size of a chciken egg, poured buttermilk, again not measured. Used her hand to break up Crisco and pull in flour and bingo, dough.

When she took the dough out of the middle of the bowl the rest of the flour was bone dry. She said she just covers it with a towel and uses it later.

I have watched hours of cooking shows and videos but that was impressive. I watched 2x to make sure I saw it right.

69 degrees today here on the southern end of WV! Perfect day to wash a car, but all the car washes are shut down due to low water supply from frozen/burst lines.
