Re: Look What Was Napping in Our Back Yard

We have them up here. He might be a pregnant she. Puffy body!

Unusual outside of a den for that long but they can prowl for food and water. They'll leave their kits (babies) in a den and return with food.

And best to leave them alone unless you have small pets outside as they can drag away small cats and dogs. They can carry rabies.

We have foxes here and I have seen them laying in the sun.  They seem to like that.

He or she was just enjoying the sunshine in a safe place.

Best to leave well enough alone, unless injured.

Thank you for this photo.

If it wasn't so cold out I would have watched it for hours.  They are so beautiful.  I like to watch videos of them the way they jump up in the air and dive nose first into the snow to catch mice.

DS has woods surrounding his house and a fox stays in a wood pile in his yard with two youngsters.  He feeds them, the deer, the squirrels and the birds of which there are many.  We can stand in his window and watch them.

What a great picture. We have had several fox visit our property over the years we have lived here. We usually see them around dusk, but occasionally during daylight hours. They are beautiful animals, and very fast moving.

Love those red Fox!  I live near the woods and "in the trees" so to speak.

I see them often in our yard.  Several years ago the three young kits were frolicking in our back yard.  I have the cutest video of them.💕

Re: Look What Was Napping in Our Back Yard

I'm another fox lover! Great photo, @rms1954 !

I've spotted many a fox and kits. Once when I was walking along, this very young red was sleeping close to the road in an opening in a field. He/she was just waking up from a nap as I was coming along (much like your picture). We could have shook hand & paw! It was a happy sighting for me!
