I want to look up and see if I can find the temp. of water in Lake Superior. We were up there one year in Jul/Aug and the water was cold then. Today, it has to be very cold!! I want to look this up.

If you live near a body of water, do you know the temp of the water today?

36-39 degrees!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It was really easy to look up I love Google!

You should be able to Google pictures of the ice caves up on Lake Superior.  Unbelievably gorgeous.

The Gulf of Mexico is in the high 60's which is very cold for swimming and that is not good for tourism, a major business here. Normally the hotels are pretty busy now with families visiting grandma for Christmas but this year we just noticed it is pretty quiet here today. Restaurants empty for breakfast this morning - unheard of on a Sunday AM during the season.

Superior is cold in even the hottest summer. I have read it's fed by Artic currents. I'm not sure that is true, but that water is cold

This morning it was 10 below,  not wind chill.  Right now it's 1 below so in a couple of hours I may just shovel some snow from my walk and driveway. At least the sun shines there and it won't feel so cold.

I live on Lake Erie and we can't wait for it to freeze!

Until then, lake effect snow storms are common. The lake today is 37 degrees and Lake Ontario (a deeper lake) is 39 degrees.

We still have a way to go.

We aren't too far from Lake Michigan,news said the lake temp was 34.  It's about -7   here now,they say it could get to -15. That's bad even for Chicago. We had a mild one last year.
