NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (–And the winner of the Cadbury Bunny contest is... Lieutenant Dan! 

Cadbury made the special announcement on Facebook Tuesday morning. “Lieutenant Dan was born different, but hasn't let that slow him down! He has a joy for life that is infectious and inspiring!” Cadbury's website said.

The two-legged coonhound was born without back legs and is named after Gary Sinise's character in “Forrest Gump” who lost his legs in the Vietnam War. His owners who live in New Richmond, Ohio, adopted him from a rescue in Florida. 

"I was born a little different, but that doesn't stop me! I know how to live life to the fullest!" his instagram reads.

Lieutenant Dan posted the exciting news on Instagram.

"This ?? is the newest Cadbury Clucking Bunny!!! ????????. We can not thank everyone enough for all of your support through this process! It has been amazing and we are all so excited and proud of our Lieutenant Dan! "

Lieutenant Dan will grace screens across America as the new star of the iconic Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial, and will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

You know what I love about handicapped animals? I don't think they even know there is a handicap.  They live and play like every other animal.  Lt. Dan is really quite good looking.
