Re: Letter carrier food drive

Postcards were put in our mailboxes a week ago - too early - hope people don't forget by then.

Re: Letter carrier food drive

Our church is one of the food banks that gets the donated food.

It is amazing what the volunteers do throughout the year. Alot of work by the Postal Employees too.

Re: Letter carrier food drive

We used to get the post card a week or two before the day, but haven't received one the last few years.

I have to wonder, with everyone complaining about excessive junk mail and it's environmental impact, if they shouldn't just find some other way to notify people. The post cards are probably the cheapest and most direct way though.

Re: Letter carrier food drive

The last 2 years, our carrier picked up our bags of food days before the scheduled Saturday pickup, and appreciated being able to get an early start.   Her small vehicle won’t hold all the food donated from her route, and being able to pick up early kept her from having to go back to the P.O. on the scheduled pick up day to empty her vehicle, then resume her route.   I am on one of the longest routes in the area.

@gidgetgh, thanks for the heads up, I haven’t received a postcard yet. I live on a block of eight two family homes and I am the only one who puts out a bag of food. If your blessed enough not to have to rely on a food bank, it’s the decent thing to do.

I don't think our post office participates in that anymore, I think there was an incident.

Re: Letter carrier food drive

Just a reminder, if you’re interested and your area participates, it’s this Saturday.
