My caller unknown or spam calls have started up again....today it was 14 calls....very strange is some of the calls were coming from a number identical to mine except for the last two digits...I blocked the first one and the next ones also were like my number but the last two numbers changed each time...I assume they are being generated by a machine.. SO annoying! Now they are even leaving voicemails! None are from my city, all are from foreign countries or other states. When caller ID says a country or state and no city, it is a dead giveaway and I block it immediately.

@hckynutjohn Yes, it's a land line. But it ID's who is calling, if spam, it shows the ph. # that is calling, and tells who it is, they kind of slaughter the names.
I only have people we know, put into our land line. The rest....waste of time.

I don't have a landline but have noticed more unwanted calls coming through on my cell recently. I always start to report the numbers to the Federal Trade Commission website when they start coming in en masse; you can do it online. When I start reporting, I've found the calls stop for a few months. The FTC says they just can't keep up with all the scammers, thousands of numbers are added daily. I'm on the Do Not Call registry but the calls get through anyway. Recently, I've started getting calls at around 3 PM EST, a sure sign that it's a call coming in from the West Coast. When I do a Google search, the numbers are always scam calls. I still find it difficult to believe that with all our resources, these calls cannot be stopped. I will say that I don't answer unknown callers unless I'm expecting calls from a company I don't usually deal with.

The DoNot Call Registry is a joke.

@qualitygal
I find it interesting. Yesterday you commented about receiving many phone calls. Today I have received 3 calls from AARP HCO and it is 11:01AM.
There was one call at 9:01 AM, one at 9:58 AM and one at 10:54 AM.
Don't know what HCO stands for but guess they want to sell something.

I get what you wrote above, but! Does your phone ring? If not, why do you care how many ID'd calls you get?
Our phones do the same as you said in this reply. Shows phone number/phony names, but does not ring.
I go through it every few days and delete those non-calls. Takes me less than 15 seconds to delete them. Not a big deal because I don't give a rats behind who they are, or what the ID lists for them.
For me, when our phone rings, 98% of the time, it is a person that is in our directory.
Read paragraph 1 of this response, and if your phone does ring? There are way newer phones than ours that will eliminate the ringy/dingy if you so choose.

@CelticCrafter , the FTC told me they just couldn't keep up, thousands are added daily. The crooks are overrunning us!
