Well Texas doesnt have a State Income Tax so we arent getting anything......
Yep, Texas is flush with cash. Our pay for teachers and prison guards is near or at the bottom of 50 states. So we are spending our windfall from energy revenues on building "the wall"

The latest news in CA is that the governor is proposing to give every registered car owner a $400 payment per car with a maximum of 2 cars per person.

California has a 43 billion dollar surplus (we residents pay plenty in various taxes). I think most people would prefer to have the gasoline tax suspended rather than receive a $400.00 check. I am retired, so I don't have a daily commute and normally only drive a few miles per day. I feel bad for those who have to drive for a living.

@LuvSoCal There had been talk about giving us a rebate due to the budget surplus before the gas crisis happened, but that never materialized.

@Kachina624 wrote:I just wonder if other states are doing something like this? Our state legislature met this week and voted to give every person who filed a state tax return last year, a rebate of $500 ($1,000 a couple) to cover increases in gas and other things. Low income families that didn't file returns can apply for the rebate.
New Mexico is the second largest producer of oil and gas (after Texas) and with the increase in oil prices, we seem to be flush with cash which is quite a contrast from the usual.
In Indiana they got a notice that they will be getting 125.00 a piece.
I think it depends on what the average price of a gallon of gas is.
It has to be 4.00 or above before they will consider it.
Lets out the Amarillo, Tx area ours is 3.46 (there abouts)
Poor people who are still in places like Cal. I sure don't begrudge them anything. 7 bucks or more. They deserve it. I'm not looking to get anything.

Too late for that.

Our governor paused the gas tax. I think I'd rather have the $500 !!!
