Weird, never ever thought about it. I'm right handed, when I put on shoes like cross-trainers or boots that require some work, I put on the left first. When I am stepping into shoes like slippers or heels, I do right first. When I put on pants, right leg first. Wonder why I do left first when I need to tie them or fuss with them to get them on. Puzzling...

Jules ... probably because you will reach with your right hand to fuss with them, so you want them on the opposite side.
