Leaky Outdoor Faucet - Help!

Anyone have any good ideas to help stop a leaky outdoor faucet? I can't afford a plumber right now and wondered if anyone has any remedies. It was find for awhile but is now leaking again, drip by drip. I know it's the reason for my increased water bill this month.

I tried to turn off the water, but the turn dial is so hard to move... I think the heat of the summer and elements have affected it.

I just don't know how to stop that miserable leak. I hardly ever use that faucet only to water some rose bushes when they look dry. It's driving me crazy!

Thank you!

Check YouTube...that's how I learned how to replace a mailbox. If that does work, throw yourself on the mercy of the guys in the plumbing dept. of your hardware store.

Re: Leaky Outdoor Faucet - Help!

A few years ago, a neighbor had me buy a part at the hardware store and he installed it for me to stop my outdoor leak. The part cost less than $5. I don't remember the name of the part- but I do think we had to call the water company to have the water to the house turned off while he worked.

If you know someone a bit handy, you might also be able to avoid the plumber.

No need for a plumber! Just find a friend or family member with the muscle to loosen the Spigot and unscrew it. Take it with you to the hardware store and get a new one. Very cheap.

It may only need a washer. You can do that yourself.

You don't need a plumber for this.......a local handyman would be much cheaper and it's always good to have the number of one as things often go wrong around the house that need small fixes.

If it's like ours, we have the same problem. There is a screw head on the top of the spigot. I tightened the screw and it immediately fixed the problem.

I think you will have to live with the leak until you can afford a plumber.
