@Trinity11 wrote:@Shanus, sounds like fun! I have heard of the popovers at Neiman's but the monkey bread is new to me. That strawberry butter is beyond delicious!
So while you are at Tiffany's pick up a Victoria bracelet for me. Come to think of it a nice Epi leather LV too.
All kidding aside, enjoy your early birthday shopping and have a great time!!
@Trinity11 Yeah, sorry to say you’re correct. They used to be popovers...the kind where you you break them open & center is kind of hollow just waiting for jam or something luscious. Now it’s monkey bread...delicious pull apart rolls. As soon as you’re on your last bite, another hot, steamy one is placed at your bread plate. Now that’s service!

Last two yrs. DH was stationed at the Pentagon, we lived in Prince William Co., about 10 miles from Quantico in beautiful Montclair, VA. Miss the area, but do not miss the snow, that's why we didn't retire there, I don't do snow!
If you are in Richmond, on your way on I-95 you should stop at Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, huge outlet mall, it was only about 5 miles from my house!
@Hooty My kids say they hated the snow, but hated the traffic worse. Their driving depended on commute hours...bumper to bumper.

@Allegheny wrote:Enjoy. I envy you so. I love DC. We travel there a few times when my DH's nephew lived in Alexandria. So educational, so much to see. Wish my DH didn't have knee and back problems. We rarely go anywhere if it requires a lot of walking. (sigh)
@Allegheny. You and dh ought to look into getting him a mobility scooter. I have a chronic back problem and my scooter has made a world if difference. I can assemble/disassemble mine in less thsn a minute. It fits nicely in the back of my SUV. Its heaviest piece is about 40lbs which is more than I usually like to lift but I manage. Often someone will offer to help. My friend has a carrier on the back of her car and just drives her scooter up on it....no lifting.
With a scooter, you can zip around and go just about anywhere, like shops and stores, theater, outside fairs and festivals, museums, restaurants....it will change your lives. When I went on a cruise, I rented one from the cruise line (Princess). It made all the difference in my enjoyment of the trip.

I love D.C. and haven't been back for five years (I'm due a trip). I'm from Silver Spring and graduated from U of MD. Personally, I think there are better places to (window) shop (NYC and L V immediately come to mind but nobody in U.S. beats D.C.s museums, especially since almost all of them are free! Certainly that's not the case in most other cities.

@Shanus I hope you arrived safely and got a little shopping in before the thunderstorms rolled in! I don’t think they’re predicting any washouts while you’re here (DH and I were swimming this afternoon before dinner). Just be sure to take an umbrella on your outings. Enjoy!

@QueenDanceALot Look at ya crazy in NC when you mention knish. Going to look for good Jewish deli before I leave here & eat myself sick. Brought along our cooler to take some good stuff home, too. Figuring w/ all the walking, this eating binge won’t jeopardize my 100 lbs. Also gym in hotel, but think I’ll skip that. V A C A T I O N !
