Sorry this is the reality in your town...sadly TPTB spend money unwisely...there would be money for these fixes if tax dollars were handled better.

@katie1859

I'm sorry that has happened to your water supply. Be sure and use water filters if you haven't already.

This is very scary indeed. Luckily I have not had to go through this. I hope you and citizens in your town do not have any ill effects.

Recently I had the pipes changed because of lead.  The water company did the work , no cost to me and my bill isn't higher.  They worked on many older homes in my town.removing lead.

As I came to revisit this thread, my thoughts are instantly of those poor innocent babies and small children as autism rates are already at an all time high!! 💝I am hoping this does NOT add to that! 🤞🤞They are in my prayers, thoughts, and heart❤🙏

Re: LEAD IN WATER

I worry about the people in East Palestine, OH. Many are sick and have had to move. One couple stated the smell was so bad they left. Very sad situation for all those residents.

I hope everything turns out for you. Take care of yourself. I don't think yours is an unique situation. There is probably more communities with the same problem.

My city recently said they received funding from the federal govt to replace a lot of lead pipes (infrastructure bill). I'm glad because we also have some lead in our water and it needs to go.

The big issue is what to replace it with? You already have people here complaining about microplastics and plastic pipe will give up microscopic pieces of plastic as the water moves through it. Water is abrasive. Steel and most other metals corrode over time. There is no perfect solution. Installing filters is a good option, but then you end up filtering out some helpful things. There are essential minerals in tap water that distilled, or reverse osmosis water removes.

It's impossible to live a risk-free life. The risk from lead in our water is relatively low compared to many other things.

Fortunately, no we have not had this problem in our community.  However DH installed a reverse osmosis water filtration system in our home at least ten years ago if not longer.

I have three famiily members who have lived in Flint, Michigan for 25 years....the stories they have told me! Fortunately, they were smart enough to drink water that was purified, not tap water that was brown. Some people actually gave that to their children and still do in some areas. i hope your tests go well and you are a good soul to bring it to everyone's attention.
