Today finally after a lot of speculation the city I live in came forth with truth. High levels of lead in our water. The EPA has long gotten involved, with cleaning the outside environment+ soil surrounding properties. Now, after months of discolored water, request to test our homes and ourselves.
Ironically, or not I have an upcoming appt with my doc for lab work and mammogram, but now I have to be tested for lead levels in me .
Since the Q forum has a wide audience I thought I would post this and ask if anyone else has gone through this?
According to the news, other municipalities are going through the same. I'm 100 miles west of Chicago.

It is scary isn't it?? I am downstate Illinois. I sure hope it can be remediated for your area.
I know I am worried about all the micro plastics in virtually every food we eat. Hard to be sure about any food or drink anymore.😩😩

I hope you escaped having a high level of lead. It is good you already have an appointment and can get an answer quickly.
Christina from HGTV was ill from lead exposure. I have not seen an update on her condition.

I am really sorry that this happening to your city❤, but SO glad the EPA has stepped in and taking corrective action!👍❤ We have seen very public examples of how basic treatment was not granted, or extrememly delayed to other vulnerable municipalities in the past!! I am praying that your upcoming lab results are positive, and that you and your family do not have any long term ill effects from whatever levels you were exposed to!!!🙏🙏💝
~~~All we need is LOVE💖
No, thankfully I've never went through this. I'm so very sorry you are though. That's got to be so scary, I can't even begin to imagine what runs through your head.
I'm glad you're going to the dr anyways. I'll pray everything turns out okay for you.💝💝💝
Yes it is horrifying. Seems nothing I safe from it. The last article I read said it was even in salt. Organic foods are not exempt from it either.
It’s all the old pipes. Part of the problem is the astronomical cost to re-place all the waterlines and pipes leading to the homes.
@bikerbabe, that is just one of the top things that angers me about situations such as this across the country, particularly water and gas lines.
TPTB knew such infrastructure needed replacing, sometimes for decades, but kept putting it off because it was too expensive.
Does anyone in their right mind think it will be less expensive in another 10 years or even another year.
Yet they keep delaying and too often at the expense of the residents health and well being.
I am sorry to go off topic on your thread. The dangers in our water and foods are so worrisome.
I hope you have a good result from your lead testing.
