A while ago I posted about KK having been misdiagnosed with Alzheimer disease when he actually has Lyme disease.  This article in Q&A format with his wife is so very informative and educational.  Although a bit lengthy it is well worth the time it takes to read.  The embedded links are also worth checking out.

Kris Kristofferson, still crooning and gorgeous at 80, is a Country Music Hall of Famer who ranks among the most versatile of American talents. He’s been a Golden Gloves boxer, a Rhodes scholar, a college football player, an acclaimed actor, a military officer, a helicopter pilot, a Grammy-winner, a self-described screw-up and an icon.

Like many, I was stunned and elated to read in Rolling Stone that Kris’s long-diagnosed Alzheimer’s turned out to be Lyme Disease, and that with proper treatment, he is back on the road, doing all the things he loves, and being his blazing, irreverent self again.

Here, Kris’s fierce, intuitive wife, Lisa, tells us how she shepherded him through a haze of missed opportunities and misdiagnoses and got him back.

I'm interested in medical stuff, in general, but having had Lyme Disease myself, this was a particularly interesting article @Marp.  Thanks.

I've always liked Kris Kristofferson and wasn't aware of his horrific experience.  Glad to hear the worst is over for him.

Years ago, I was fortunate in discovering my rash and being treated immediately.  I didn't seem to suffer any after effects, but I have to wonder if so many years later, my unexplainable fatigue and odd aches and pains are a long-term result.  I am otherwise healthy.

One important thing brought out in the article was how unfortunate it is that specialists only address a person's symptoms without looking for an underlying cause.  We need to have a more holistic approach to medicine and certainly, where Lyme Disease is concerned, more knowledge and awareness because it is truly becoming very widespread.

I know many may disagree with me, but I don't know which is worse...Lyme's or Alzheimer's. I know people who have Lyme's that are so badly affected and have lost their quality of life. No treatment can save them at that point. It's really a sad situation either way you look at it.

Wow I had no idea. Glad to hear he is doing better though. He is lucky he has the resources to find the right treatment. Makes you wonder how many other people have been mis-diagnosed. It should be a standard test in anyone that has those type symptoms. Sounds like people that do have Lyme disease may not be receiving correct treatment if they are not seeing a specialist.

My brother went to numerous specialists for years and finally was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. He was so frustrated that he even stopped seeking an answer for awhile because each specialists would send him to another for even more tests. And still not one of the sprcialists had an answer.

Just watching what my brother went through I can easily believe what Kris Kristofferson  must have gone through.

Hard to believe he is 80, he sure was a good-looking guy back in the day.

Oh wow, I didn't know any of this. I was a kid when he was probably in his prime but there is nothing hotter than KK circa Evergreen.

Just ran across the 1992 remake of "Christmas In Connecticut" on Amazon. I always loved KK's performance with Dyan Cannon, and I always loved the movie.

Glad he's doing better.
