The crowd on my street is large, very celebratory and not rowdy at all.  Traffic is backed up since it’s Saturday,  but the NYPD is on duty and handling it well.

The Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck is doing big business!

I was rooting for them at first but changed to the Spurs after I saw on the news how the NY fans were treating the Spurs fans.  They were ripping their jerseys off, attacking them, they beat one guy so bad he was hospitalized.   This is not how sportsmanship should be. It is very sad that this is what it is now when a team loses a game.

Spurs fan sadly beat a 17 yr old Knicks fan into a coma.

I'm so proud of my Spurs!  They are a young talented team.  There's always next year.

Not to bring this thread down, because...congrats to the Knicks. But, I shake my head in dismay at things like this, we hear about every day, and wonder WHAT has happened to society, the culture and civility?!! Post pandemic, it seems people have devolved and gone bonkers, and never come back. Again...I don't want this thread to devolve into something they'll poof for being "agrumentative" or "political"...because it's a congratulatory thread.

It is just that things I hear like this (I'd heard it also on local news (I'm in CT)) makes me sad at our society these days. They were saying on this local station...they were worried if they lost what would happen but also if they won! The acting out seems to happen no matter what.

I'm not invested in the Knicks, but I know many were wrapped up in this...so, it's nice they won...and what a nail-biter that must have been!
