I think that people go out of their way to be offended.
There are many 'girls' who don't/won't/can't do what are traditionally considered 'guy' things. IT holds no interest for them, they don't intend to ever learn or do it, they think or have been conditioned to think it is complicated, or simply have never been taught or tried these type things.
There are a lot of women and girls out there that might just pick up and listen when someone describes how 'easy' it really is. Could she choose her words better/more politically correct. Probably. But in the whole world of insults and offensiveness, this ranks pretty low on my meter.

In general: Some items are normally very heavy, so a host (or someone) just saying that this particular lighter-weght item would be easier for a woman to lift and operate, wouldn't be a bad thing, imo. Just thinking that some/many men are physically stronger (lifting wise) than some/many/whatever women. Right or wrong, jmo.

Never miss a chance to find some way to bash either Kerstin or Shawn every day, or both. Just another bash du jour.
Kerstin has become one of my favorite hosts. Most of the time I don't mind Shawn at all when she does non-clothing shows (don't watch clothing shows generally).
There are half a dozen hosts I dislike watching a lot more than the forum's favorite host punching bags.

Just curious... Are there no words you are offended by?

I am very hesitant (as are most women) to use anything to do with vehicles even though I have taken classes on vehicle simple maintanance. It's not that I cannot do it - just I have been constantly told you have to be very careful as you could ruin the battery or get burned and I wasn't raised working on vehicles.! I know these type of products now are supposedly fail proof but would only use one if there was no one else around to help but possibly after using the product a couple of times I would be comfortable with it. So nothing wrong with what the host said!!!
So I guess if no male of the species is available your flat out of luck and maybe even spending the night in your vehicle.....now that's something SCARY and something I wouldn't want to attempt!!! .
@Spurt Please reread CORRECTLY what I stated and have underlined!

Much ado about nothing.
Women, in general, do some things that men don't and vice versa.

Who would that be?

First of all, I didn't get the impression that the OP was as upset about the use of the word "girl" as she was about what followed. And yes, it is outdated and insulting to suggest that women are not physically strong. Certainly, most females are not as strong as men, but that's not the point here.
As for those who continually accuse people here of being so easily offended (translation: too PC), I have two replies: First, any of you wouldn't hesitate to voice YOUR dismay when something is said or done that offends YOU; second, I'm tired of this labeling (PC or easily offended) that seems always to imply a lack of empathy for others' feelings.
Stereotypying and generalizations can lead to outright insults and boorish behavior. And that is never CORRECT, politically or not.

I agree 100%. I don't object so much to the use of 'girls'. But the implication that "girls" are too frail, weak, uninterested, lazy etc to use such an item is condescending, incorrect and just a dumb thing to imply in 2016. Gone are the days when there are "pink" jobs and 'blue' jobs. I thought we had progressed to the point that things aren't gender based anymore. That what we can and should do is based on abilities not gender. It's not 1950 anymore.
