Re: Kim Potter found guilty on both charges

She's not a police officer anymore because she resigned. She can at least keep her pension.

I saw her once really quick on tv, and she looked like she was having a nervous breakdown.  Felt so bad for her.

Having been married to a law enforcement officer and knowing what they put up with, I feel very badly for her.  If the man they were trying to arrest hadn't acted like a jerk, he'd be alive and Kim wouldn't have been on trial.  She has my sympathy; A tragic accident that could have been avoided.

@Kachina624, I agree with you 100%.  I had read that this man had an outstanding warrant for a weapon charge.  Is that true or not?  If so, that might have been the reason he started to cooperate and then suddenly tried to bolt.

Also - your opinion on this.  Quite a fuss made that she did not try to administer aid (as she was in total shock on the ground after the event).  Did anyone point out that he quickly drove the car away before he crashed it?  How could others there administer aid until he crashed the car?

I do not feel justice was served with this very harsh verdict.

Re: Kim Potter found guilty on both charges

I had dinner with some retired Minneapolis police officers (family) last night. Given the lengthy deliberations, we did not expect a verdict of guilty on both Manslaughter 1 and 2.

When I watched the verdict today, I could not help but feel it was juror #4 who was the holdout on Man 1. She was seen shaking and crying as she left the courtroom. I also could not help wondering if other jurors didn't pressure her given the holiday. Who wants to be sequestered over Christmas?

@magicmoodz, A person with a conscience and a soul would give up Christmas for the right reason.

Before Daunte Wright was shot and killed by now former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter, he terrorized his local neighborhood for several years, leaving victims and their families with a lifetime's worth of trauma and suffering. Through court records and interviews with the victims, DailyMail.com can exclusively report that Wright had led a life of crime and violence before his death, having been involved in the shooting of two of his school friends, a home burglary, and had previously assaulted and robbed a young woman at gunpoint. His death on April 11, 2021 set off angry demonstrations for several days in the Minneapolis suburb. But for some, Wright's death was a reminder of the justice they will never get for the pain and suffering he had caused them. 'He's an evil human being. Worse than a monster, a wasted space on earth,' Jennifer LeMay told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.

Before Daunte Wright was shot and killed by now former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter he had charges pending.

He has been convicted of a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct in 2020, and in late 2019 he pleaded guilty to a petty misdemeanor for possession and sale of a small amount of marijuana, according to Fox News.

Re: Kim Potter found guilty on both charges

People seem to be divided on the verdict.  Police are supposed to be able to think on their feet in very dangerous situations.  The guy had more than one felony. Young as he was, he was a thug, and no angel.  She made a mistake and took a life. But Police can't make them.  So I agree with the verdict. The victim should not made a martyr.  But I hope her sentence is not the maximum.  Traffic stops are the most dangerous of all police work. Often they start on minor infractions.  In fact there was a movement to get rid of traffic stops for minor things.  It's not worth police lives.

True, but if in fact juror 4 was the only holdout, it does not negate the fact that she might have been facing peer pressure from those who did want to get home for the holiday.  It happens.

The judge said they would be allowed to go home for Christmas.
