She was a police officer for 26 years and never had a problem at all . Why would you weed out an officer who never had a problem??

The investigation is not complete yet, so that is just your opinion based on zero 'facts'.

Not only that, but I always look at it this way....when someone wakes up in the morning...what is their intent?
Is it good or is it bad?

Different treatment than who?

I thought they never showed the jurors on tv due to their safety. This " hung jury" idea I think was bogus from the beginning. When the judge read the verdict, she said the guilty verdict for 1st degree manslaughter was decided on Dec 21....two days ago. The guilty verdict for 2nd degree manslaughter wasn't decided until 11:30 this morning, the day the verdicts were handed down, so it sounds like they were quickly unanimous on the 1st degree charge.

You missed the point.

Where can I find this "condescending lecture" you were given? Wouldn't mind seeing it myself.
Thank you,

Giving up Christmas would serve no purpose since the court system shuts down for the holiday.

It is important to look at their *history*, be it working history, schooling, friendships, etc.
Everyone has a history that can be checked.
Is it good or is it bad?

You have never been in a position like this and neither have I. My DH on the other hand has. He has been shot at and has returned fire. Thank goodness he never killed anyone and has never been hit himself.
He has come home from work in a bad state many times. One time he chased a guy into a wooded area and my DH jumped over a two foot high stone wall thinking it was a faster route...and it was. He dropped over 25' and landed on his back into someone's back yard. They had fire wood stacked up against the wall. By some Miracle there was a small spot where there was no wood.
God was with him that night. If he would have landed on the fire wood, he wouldhave been killed. He was wearing a heavy leather jacket and his bullet proof vest. That was helpful...he didn't break his back. Those items protected him.
One night he stopped into an ice cream shop that was closing. He often visited the shop and was friends with the two owners. When he got in to the parking lot, two men were marching the owners out back into the woods and their hands were tied behind their backs.
The criminals shot at my DH. It was dark but he heard the shots and saw the flash. The two guys ran off and got away. They dropped the money deposit bag which had blood on it..so my DH probably hit him.
The owners of the ice cream shop said they were told they were going to be killed.
Once my DH was called to a homicide scene where a man was killed. The house was occupied my two small children and their mother. The dead man was a cab driver and his cab was parked out front. To make a long story short, the mother was the killer...the cab driver was selling drugs. My DH by another Miracle just happens to notice Mom had a gun. It turned out she was the killer and not the victim and she was high. He answered the call alone.
Police officers can go for a long time with no excitement, but things can change quickly. They are always on pins and needles. They often have to make life choices in a split second. They have no time to think before they act.
I can tell another story, but I don't 't want to be ID'd. I have mentioned a few times on here that my DH has a " shrine" on our LR wall. It is because of his heroic actions where he saved two people and almost lost his life while doing so. He has a bunch of awards for doing so.
When I asked him how he could put his life in danger when he was married with three little kids at home...I was clearly upset. He replied that he had to. He didn't think about it at the time. He was running on adrenaline.
I watched the video with this female cop. I can see how terrified she was..how her adrenaline was taking over. I am 100% positive that this was an accident. This type of confusion has happened before. It is horrible. Once you pull the trigger, you can't take it back.
It also makes zero sense that a police officer would take their eyes off of a suspect and look to see what weapon was in their hands when they are in a stressful and dangerous situation.
Thankfully, my DH retired...at age 62. He spent over 35 years as PO working the midnight shift. I spent many nights up and not sleeping worrying that he might not come home.
I have had people call my house and threaten to hurt my DH, me or our children. I have been spit on and cursed at. I spent many nights at the ER praying that my husband was okay. He has had many stitches, staples and bruises that were gotten in the line of duty.
My son is also a PO. I pray for him everyday that he will be safe and can't wait until he retires. He has 9 years to go.
Yes, there are bad PO's but there are bad teachers, bad doctors, bad plumbers, etc. most PO's good people who risk their life for you every shift they work.
Put yourself in their shoes and the shoes of their family who wait for them to come home safely.
