The nuns and priests were doing what they're faith called them to do which is to serve. They were taking care of people who needed them. I hope the father is alive. My hope and prayer for him is that somehow he is showing his kidnappers what it means to have a strong faith and that murdering people doesn't make y0u stronger than the priest's God.

@Ms X wrote:It really is shocking that ISIS did this. The pope is wrong to support this migration, given that ISIS has been and will be among them. It is madness, and more terror attacks will result. I hope not, but the Associated Press quoted a European police official last week as saying 400 suicide bombers are in Europe and reay to attack at any time.
@Ms X- the Catholic Church has a long history of providing sanctuary to the immigrant population. Catholic Charities gets a good amount of their revenue from the US government for relocation services. I don't think Pope Francis is empowered to or inclined to change a longstanding history of humanitarian aid to immigrant populations.
We're talking about an infiltration by ISIS. A good solution would have been to create sanctuaries in the Middle East for those truly in need of sanctuary. JMO.
@Ms X- yes, but the fear is that the ISIS operatives may come in with immigrants....the sanctuary cities, Catholic Charities and Lutheran missions are not going to change longstanding humanitarian aide; they are contracted by OUR government. We need vetting procedures, policy, people to implement policies and technology.

The director of the FBI told Congress there is no way to determine who they are. Look it up.

@Ms X- I don't have to look it up...I read it before and often....

I just Googled and several media outlets are reporting it.

Daily Mail, The Blaze and FOX.
The last two are saying his fate is/was uncertain.

Holding on to hope that he is still alive, but not so sure that would be a good thing in the hands of these monster.
I don't know if the Pope has addressed the situation at all. I guess his Easter sermon was given before the story broke?
As a Catholic, I respect the Pope, but am not a *follower*.
Just because the Church has changed over the years, doesn't mean I have.
Prayers/responses for Mass have changed, but I still recite/respond with the older ones.
Don't worry, it's not a sin!
