My father graduated from high school in Detroit, MI.  He palled around with a family whose sons were named Chevy, Ford, Buick, Cadillac, and Packard.

@jubilant Congrats on your great grandson, Maverick! 🥳  And I think the name Theodora is cute!! Oh, and I do have a nephew, Tanner!

My mom and dad named all of us with the same first initial (12 of us). I think they were running out of girls' names by the time they got to me ... my name can go either way but is used more for boys. I get so much mail addressed to "Mr. So and So"... just very used to it by now. 🤪🤷‍♀️

I have noticed that a lot of traditional names are back in style.  People are now naming their children Josephine, Adeline, Walter, Arthur, John, Hazel, etc.  I think the pendelum swings from one extreme to the other when it comes to names.

Keith Richards has a daughter named Theodora. I always liked that name. I dislike Maverick. I heard because of that movie the name is popular. It wasn't even that great of a movie IMO

My friend worked in labor and delivery in a major Chicago hospital in the 90's when the Chicago Bulls were super hot. Every other baby (not really but a lot) were named Michael or Jordan.

I was out shopping and a woman in the same isle as myself was calling out loud,  Esther.   I was surprised when a little girl appeared.

Now that you mentioned Esther I heard a woman saying the name Edith and it also was a little girl.

Not a fan of Maverick or many of the newer names.  I've always liked Nicholas (Nick). Good strong name.

Hate cutsey spellings of names, (example), Nancee. She will be correcting people her whole life.

I like Thea, not Theadora.  If a friend/family member called my kid Theadorable, it would be knock it off if you ever want to see her.

My niece had a baby girl in June.  Her name is Wren.  Pronounced, I think, with the "W" silent.  It's a name of a bird.

Even kids with "ordinary" names get teased in school, but I have a slight aversion to names that don't even seem to be real names.

When you name a baby, it stays with them forever, and it would be nice if it didn't invite ridicule.  JMO, of course.

A great-great nephew was born just this morning, and his name is Maverick.
