Kate is lovely and it is quite obvious she loves her family and her country.  I hated it back when they referred to her as Waity Katy.  In my eyes she was just a young girl in love waiting until her choice was ready to settle down.  Paid off nicely with some beautiful children.

I remember Kate's boobs making an appearance on her honeymoon, and the press being reprimanded for it.  I don't remember the incidents with her tushy being exposed though.  Must have missed those...

I also remember when she and William were first married Kate being dubbed the "do nothing duchess" or something like that.  She and her reputation have certainly made a 180 because she seems to be loved by just about everyone now.

I'm hoping Meghan has the opportunity to grow in favor with the public as well.

Thanks for the permission for me to not particularly like Kate.. I will agree that she is extremely poised and attractive. Of course, there is no well researched reportage to support my view....it's just my opinion.

@Pearlee

Good grief.   I was merely making an observation.  Get over yourself.

I think that scorn can be distributed to the royals in an egalitarian manner.  I mean, Katie gets off so lightly on these boards, doesn't she?

This is, after all, the United States and I'm not one of her subjects.

Katie may be "getting off lightly" as you put it (not me) because she has really not made a misstep as a royal in years, since her early days, and even then nothing very serious nor challenging to the monarchy.  And comments about Kate are not intended as slams against MM  ;east mine aren't.

I thought this quote (by "British royal expert William Hanson" -- no idea who he is!) was interesting:

Catherine made many mistakes when she was first engaged and married to Prince William, as Meghan is now. Both are very different and both contribute to the royal family and the wider cause," he says, adding, "No one person is bigger than the institution, however. Catherine understands this as she is a native Brit, and so grew up with a greater consciousness of how the British royal family do things.

To be completely honest, I didn't realize that Kate and Will had been criticized in the past for their work ethic, among other things. I truly thought they were beloved by all from the start, but that is not the case.

My recollection is that they might have stepped in it occasionally but then quickly stepped up. They were also far younger then than the other ducal duo are now and while they didn't assume as many royal duties as perhaps it was thought they ought to, as I recall, when first married, William was still in the military and the two of them were moving around a good bit because of it... Then the children came along and things seemed to settle down...

NOT trying to hijack the thread, but I'm surprised there haven't been any threads about the Prince Andrew fiasco ......  or have they been poofed ?

@Tinkrbl44  At this point, I'm not sure the thread could be further hijacked... So, as far as I can see, no worries...

Actually, there were several Andy threads, one quickly deleted by moderators as being 'controversial' and one that veered into a discussion of the younger ducal brother and his wife that disappeared very quickly, with not even a place-holder left... Very mysterious... I believe there might have been a few others as well...

I agree.

It is unfortunate that there seems to be some discord between them.  It's part of the reason many here feel the need to take sides.

I've been of the impression the source of the discord is really between the brothers. Perhaps that's spilled over. Certainly, we'll never know the nature of the relationships between these people. That said, I'm of the clear opinion Kate and William have 'earned their stripes'. My own personal view is that the other two haven't. I make no bones about the fact that from what I see as a complete outsider, I like Kate and William but do not care for Harry or Meghan. For me, it's not a matter of taking sides. I think it's entirely possible for one to like both couples and all four individuals... or not... As for me, I do not care for H&M individually or collectively... Meanwhile, I do like both K&W and also think they make a good team...

I much prefer Meghan to Katie.  Kate reeks of arrogance and entitlement.

But Katie has done her royal duty and now it's time to close up shop.

@Johnnyeager  You have the right as far as who you like more than the other, however, there is no need to disparage Kate.  It would have been better if you just moved on. Smiley Sad

But I disagree!  The thread postings have encompassed "the royal family" and the Queen was also mentioned.  So anyone in that family is fair game for mention.

@Johnnyeager  So to you fair game means it is okay to put down anyone who is mentioned, well I disagree!!

Kate understands the role. It isn't about her it is about what she represents.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
