Re: KALE: Like It Or Leave It?

Love it. The baby kale tastes great to me raw. But I also stir fry it briefly in oil with garlic and RW vinegar. The mature kale is great in soups and stews.

Noel, OT but do you watch Orphan Black?

OH, ABSOLUTELY! Are you another fan? LOVE that show, it's brilliant.

So who's a kale fan there? The one married to Donny?

My mother overcooked veg, too. Blech. Other than that, she was an incredibly good cook.

I know I am not celery but I make cold salads out of mine a lot. I cook it with lemon and/or limes. Drain really good then add olive oil, vinegars and sometimes I do it greek with feta, med. veggies, olives and med herbs. Sometimes I do in an Italian way. Right now I have some lemon juice, oregano, feta, roasted red peppers, sliced olives, chopped mint, lemon zest, garlic and red onion. Salt an pepper of course.

I also need a new source, quinoa is extremely expensive in the grocery store. My last bag was purchased through Ebay, 4 lbs for $22.

Wow! Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? They're usually less expensive and carry health products.

Edit: Just looked, they have several varieties.

Feta makes most salads better, imo Smile

Re: KALE: Like It Or Leave It?

I grow Kale and Collard in my garden, it grows all summer long, and I harvest it with collard put in bags and freeze. I use it all year then, in stir fries, in soups, hash browns, etc, in the summer when fresh it goes well in my salads. Love it and the nutritional value it has.
