Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

WHAT???!! RUN as fast as she can away, far....far away. Who on earth would put up a guest in a trailer, while the boyfriend stays in the house. Did I read this right, she had to make her own meals? The whole premises absolutely insane. If it were me, I would've caught a flight home as soon as possible, pack my bags, and never saw this guy again. How could he remotely think this is OK?

There is MORE going on there besides an oblivious boyfriend, with parents who won't let anybody in their house.     A LOT MORE....

I agree.

Could be the mother pats him dry after his bubble bath and helps him into his Dr. Denton's....

Geez, I though my MIL didn't like me from day one.  She never tried anything so bizarre.

If there had been a camper set out for me in this kind of situation, my boyfriend (DH) would've crept in through the roof and the darn thing would be laying on it side in the morning.Woman LOL

Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

If this is a true story then the girl better run fast.  She sounds desperate to get married and I hope she is able to see the truth in how she allowed herself to be treated. That is rotten.  Doesn’t sound like they just didn’t want them sleeping together, sounds like they didn’t want to bother at all.

And, I thought the trip was to meet the parents?  Didn’t sound like they had any interaction at all.

And 4 days without a shower, sitting in a camper alone in unknown territory, I would of left without a word if I saw how things were progressing.

I can’t believe some of you are justifying this behavior. Terrible.

What leap desperate to get married? @aprilskies how did you come up with that. She sounds like a young professional woman that met a man she loves and hopes to marry.

@manny2 She spent four days in the driveway in a camper cooking her meals?  If that says young professional woman, it sure doesn't say that in any world I've ever lived in.

It says to me you need professional help more than anything else. And it says that loud and clear.  Good grief what will happen to this woman later on?

That family is high risk, and I'm not talking about Covid. I doubt that I would have hung around.

@AuntG   I agree.  High risk and toxic.  Covid is always thrown out there and has nothing to do with the actions of these parents.

The boyfriend is tied to apron strings, has no manners (wonder why), and his comfort mattered to him but not for her.

@Duckncover   It has only been a couple of months of dating; I think looking at dresses without a formal announcement was a tad early.

Now she knows exactly how this marriage will be - all him all the time.

She can do better.

Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

Afraid of  Covid concern plain and simple.  My take.  They did lots of work trying to give her a place to stay.  That was not easy, however strange.  But she  got to come and meet them and they thought enough about the situation to attempt to make her comfortable except the shower.

She should give them another chance but not before telling her boiyfriend how she felt about the situation.  It is his response that counts.

As for inlaws.  Mine were strange and distant until I had kids.  I should say it was my mother in law.  She once came knocking on our door and insisted my husband pick her rather than me. She was mad about something.  Never could figure it out.  She mellowed after my gift of four daughters who she adored to her death.
