Re: Just learned lesson about QVC shipping....OMG

I've also had the experience of returning something (long before they stopped refunding original S&H) for an exchange and got a refund instead.

I contacted CS and was told whoever processed my return/exchange probably didn't even read what I'd written. Since then I don't bother. (Also happened when I returned a defective item and had the return shipping deducted.)

I agree with others who've posted that they now limit what they buy from the Q.  The cost of shipping (and in my state, tax on it) is too high, when there are too many "misses".  Unless I'm fairly certain I'll keep an order, I pass.

The current shipping policy has been in place almost two years.  There is an exchange.  You send yours back, then the return gets posted and a new one is sent out and billed.  It's easier and faster to return and just order another.

watching a shoe show yesterday and boots were being presented (Fisher tall ones) and the shipping was almost $13....all I thought was WOW if you don't like them...fit is off....it's going to cost $26 to try on boots and return!! People were ordering them....incredible to me...no way.

@tsavorite - $13 shipping for boots - WOW!  That's ridiculous!

@hoosieroriginal

And watch out for shipping on handbags too....$13 and it comes in the same ole box as the rest of their merchandise.....and heavier items have a lesser QVC shipping charge....go figure ......QVC has lost many sales to me because of this...

I fully understand the policy, I shop QVC quite often still. BUT $17.95 to ship a vacuum that I can get at Target, Kohl's or Walmart is simply too much, either coming or going!

I guess I have not paid attention... I ordered the Wander Jacket TSV and returned it because it was a little tight and did not like the color that much.  I returned and asked for an exchange but they did not do it although they had in stock.  They just refunded my money at least a little bit.  THe first installment was 19.49 and they refunded me 7.49.  It cost me 11.93 just to try it on.  They took out the original shipping of 4.98 plus the return shipping of 6.95.  I knew about the 6.98 bit did not realize about the 4.98.  Last order for me.  I cannot afford to pay 12.00 to try an item on.  They say you have 30 days to return it and nothing to lose...What a joke....LIve and learn..

Yep, if you use their preprinted return label they charge you a minimum of $6.95 to return and they don't normally refund the orginal shipping and handling.  It took me a couple of returns to catch on.  Expensive lesson for us.

Re: Just learned lesson about QVC shipping....OMG

If I ordered a keurig coffee pot (just an example) I can check it out at a brick and mortar store and if the price at Qvc is good I could order knowing I would not return it unless it was defective.  Same with a lot of things.  However, clothes are usually something you have to try on to know if they fit.  I know they give measurements on most clothing but that still does not guarantee a good fit.  Also I have ordered two of the same items in different colors and the fit was totally different even being the same size.  I really think it is ridiculous for the hosts to say try it for 30 days you have nothing to lose.!!!!  You have a lot to lose...in money and  aggravation.

Re: Just learned lesson about QVC shipping....OMG

There are tons of places to shop online.  Many offer free or reduced shipping, some offer free returns and some offer cheaper prices.  That being the case, I never understand why people continue to shop here then complain about the prices and the cost of shipping and handling.

QVC clearly states it's shipping and return policy.  Their return shipping labels are a convenience.  If you can return the item more cheaply using your own label, do so.

Truthfully when I've shipped items UPS or sent them USPS, it's cost me more than what it costs me using a preprinted return label.

No wonder QVC sales are down. They treat customers with no respect and expect them to continue to shop with them... WRONG. There are many other retail online stores that have great customer service and treat the customer right. That is why QVC sales have tanked.

I feel like they are probably just doing what they feel they have to do.

I would add that you can most likely thank the scores of people who order a bunch of stuff with the express purpose of returning most of it.    That had to add up fast, against their bottom line, when they refunded shipping costs no matter the reason for returning.

@Spurt - so how does HSN offer many many of their items daily free shipping and the Q can't?  I don't understand unless HSN's sales are much higher.  HSN will offer free shipping on makeup or shoes or fashion an entire month!  (In fact, I think shoes are free shipping always on HSN - might be wrong though).  I just ordered a treadmill from HSN but first talked to customer service because of my concerns that after reading reviews, a few people said when they received their treadmill it was falling out of the box.  I asked them what happens if the box is in poor shape when it is received, can I refuse it?  They said "sure, just refuse it and we'll send out another one to you - no problem".  Their customer service exceeds my expectations.
