Just a warning about easy pay and returns!

I’m not a happy camper and will DEFINITELY be very selective about buying on QVC in the future, especially using easy pay and if the product has shipping charges. I know that if you use the Q label to return an item, the amount listed on the top of the label would be deducted from what you paid. I get that. There have been times that I paid the postage up front and received a full refund. My understanding has been that taxes and shipping charges, if any, were paid in the first easy payment. I guess that’s not the case. Not only was the Q label deducted but the original shipping amount deducted from my payments. I guess the lessons learned are: 1. Be very careful about ordering anything on easy pay, 2. Only order if it’s free shipping, 3. Don’t use easy pay, because it’s not that easy.

At least, my bank account will be happy that I will now be curtailing if or when I order from QVC (I assume that the same applies to HSN & Evine).

QVC has been doing that for a while, not crediting the original shipping costs with our return. That happens if you're use the easy pay or not.

@Ibby114 I was just about to post the same thing.  That has been going on for a long time.  They charge $6.95 for the return and never refund the original shipping charge.  If you have a six pay easy pay, you're lucky if you get a credit large enough to cover the shipping.

Re: Just a warning about easy pay and returns!

@Ibby114, I didn’t expect that they would credit but they deducted it from my refund. Easy pay was $19.66 for 6 months. Made 2 payments which equaled $39.32, they deducted $10.95 for the Q label (which I expected) and $7.50 for shipping to me for a refund of $20.87. I thought that the shipping and taxes were in the first payment, but obviously must not be.

You pay original and return shipping no matter how it's split up.

@Toot1920  That is how HSN billed but that may have changed since the Qurate buy-out.  Q has always divided the s&h and taxes across the easy pays.

Re: Just a warning about easy pay and returns!

@Toot1920  Yes!  I figured that out about maybe 1 year (or less) ago.

I started seeing all of these deposits of $5.99, $9.99 and so on!

I was like, "What in the world".  Then I called QVC and found out exactly what you just said.

So, I used to just keep whatever it was because it's hard to swallow seeing that.

Then my daughter said, "Mom!  You have to look at it like, "They won't be taking out the $9.99 out anymore".

She's right.  I've tried sending it back by me paying for it, but well....that was even more expensive.

Here's one thing I do.  I pile a bunch of the clothes into one box.  Just like QVC does.  As long as there is at least one return ticket inside of the box you don't need one for every item.  As long as it can be identified (the item number).

I just spoke with customer service.  I asked, "So in the past it was best not to combine in the boxes say earphones with pieces of clothes".  The CS guy said "Yes, it will be quicker if you don't combine in a box pieces of clothes with items like cooking supplies or anything other than clothes.  Put the other items in a separate box".

So, my advice to everyone to save money is to do what QVC does.  Sometimes the box is heavy with things I bought all in one box.  That's what I do when sending it back.

Here's another example.  I just boxed up a bunch of those wireless JAM earphones.  My teenage grandchildren didn't like them.  I included in the box two of those things you can lay makeup in and pull the string to gather it up (grandchildren didn't like those).  But what wasn't in there were an kind of clothing item.

That way you will save money.  If you think about it you should only get whatever you've paid into the item.  BUT at least you won't have the money taken out every month from then on and you are saving money if you put a bunch of clothes all in one large box.  Just like QVC does when they send it to us.

I made sure that whatever I paid into the item would be refunded and they wouldn't subtract for each item and he said I was right.

I had to return a 5 ft Christmas tree I never even opened up because the person I bought it for died right before Christmas.  I bought it during Christmas in July so it is fully paid for.  I will get the full amount I paid into it, minus the shipping back to them.

I wasn't going to open it at all but I figured it would be refunded quicker if I pulled out the labeling inside.  I didn't even have to cut the yellow ties holding the box.  I slipped the return label inside and but the QVC return label on the box.

Every single package I return to QVC (using their return label) I have the post office scan the label and I get a receipt.

I've had too many packages returned or never made it to the recepient.  These are packages I sent to people and my daughter in Colorado, they were not QVC.

Now when I even send a freaking birthday card I put the card (envelop and all) in a larger BOUGHT envelope and pay a little more so I can follow it.

You have no idea how many birthday cards I've sent to people that never made it to them.  WHY?  I was told by the post office it is because it's known that if it is a birthday card it might have a gift card inside.  Hence it is stolen.  Even 2 post office employees tell me they do the same thing (envelope within envelope) like I do when they send a gift card.

That's pathetic and expensive, but at least the people get it.  I always send gift cards to my large family.  It's just something they know Aunt Annabelle is going to do for them on their birthday.

It's only been in the past maybe year or so that I've had to do this.  I was told because the post office isn't checking into these people they hire backgrounds very well AND they are all only part-time employees to save the post office money.

All of this is just one more 'sign of the the times'.  Sad really sad, idn't it.  You can say, "It's a felony to mess with the mail".  You can say that all you want....However, just like everything no one follows through and investigates so what difference does it make....right?

@Toot1920......when you do a purchase on easy pay, check your status once it has been placed.....they tell you on that how much each payment will be....whether it 6, 5 or 4 easy pay.  Then if there is a problem with that go to customer service on the phone and get it straightened out.

And this is why amazon is going to crush them. I was rooting for them, but they're self destructing.

Re: Just a warning about easy pay and returns!

just confirming that you DONT get back your original shipping fees if you return an item. you will if it is defective or damaged.

it has been like this now for well over 2 years.
