Are you receiving fewer scam robocalls?

[ Edited ]

As of July 1, the FCC expanded its requirement that call carriers implement the program that certifies the number you see on caller ID is real. Before July 1, only large companies had to comply. Now all carriers must.

I'm definitely receiving fewer calls, but those clever scammers are surely developing a workaround.

****I edited to clarify it's scam robocalls that should be decreasing. Legitimate robocalls aren't affected. Sorry.

Thanks for the info, @PickyPicky3  for now, it seems to be working, I have received zero calls.

@deepwaterdotter   I'm pretty certain all those political calls aren't considered scam -  just as annoying when I don't want to be bothered!

Re: Are you receiving fewer scam robocalls?

I am getting about 10 calls a day. I always check my CID. Several are from states where I don't know anyone, some are on the local exchanges, but no associated name, and my favorite....Mr. Unavailable. And, of course, Mr. SPAM RISK. Oh, and some from local businesses or medical places, but the phone numbers are not the correct ones for them!

sure would like them to stop. I never answer.

Re: Are you receiving fewer scam robocalls?

Seriously I think I'm getting way more!  Just a few days ago I noticed that the phone did not stop ringing!

I should have counted the number of calls but I got so disgusted that I unplugged the phone. Anyone who needed to call me knows my cell phone number.

I wouldn't be surprised if I had gotten more than 40 calls that day.

I got a few less yesterday and today it's back to normal....less than 10 so far.

As for the numbers showing up they still are scamming with a fake name.  So often it will look like a name of a person  who could be a neighbor with an exchange in my area but if I happen to answer it's usually someone with a heavy accent with lots of voices in the background.

Today while driving a got such a call on my cell phone.  He said he was from some supply company (of course it was hard to understand him) and asked how I was doing.  I said fine and it seems like you are doing well too....sounds like a lot of people in the background...."is there a party going on?"  He hung up on me!

The FCC requirement is called Stir/Shaken Compliance.

If your caller ID is still showing disguised info, call your phone company and complain.

I don't get the reference to James Bond either.
