Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger

Bostonians are on high alert since Johnny Depp is in town filming Black Mass, the story of Whitey Bulger. He's filming in Dorchester at the moment, but there haven't been too many sightings, much to the dismay of his fans. Could be because Depp looks like a much older man, LOL. The photos I've seen are amazing, as Depp really looks like Bulger. I read the book, based on a recommendation from another poster and really liked it. I'm anxious to see the movie, although if it's filming now, it probably won't be released for at least another year if not longer.

Topaz, I heard yesterday that John Connelly, aka Zip the Fed's conviction was overturned. Unbelievable!

You're kidding! I hadn't heard that. What a shame if it's true. I'm going to Google it to see what happened. I never thought Connelly was guilty until I read the book. I just thought it was the fall guy. He had a boyhood fascination with Bulger and he seriously crossed the professional line as an FBI agent. I wonder who is playing Connelly in the movie?

I had no reservations about the charges that Zip looked the other way and filled his pockets while Whitey ran amok. Absolutely none, lol.

Just checked the cast: Joel Edgerton plays Connelly.

I think Depp can do just about anything. He's such a talented actor.

His look is the least to do with it, IMO.

Love Howie, and you're right in that he's darn lucky that Bulger didn't get around to bumping him off, as he threatened him at one point. I think that when Whitey had to go on the lam, he left behind some unfinished business in Boston and Howie was one of the lucky ones.

Howie said that Whitey sent his crew to case his home, fortunately for him, they were watching the wrong house. Fast forward 25 years later, Bulger tried to get him banned from his trial. Guess he can't let stuff go, lol.
