i had abnormal pap smears twice, pre cancer ones. They were able to freeze them off and I had to have a pap every 6 months to make sure the paps came back normal (which they did). Eventually I ended up  getting my cervix out but I was very proactive about my health.

That happened to me once, 30 years ago, detected from my PAP smear.  I had to have a surgical procedure and got checked every six months for a while also.  Thank goodness for early detection.  I've always been diligent about getting my PAP smears annually, which I started doing when I was about 21, not 30.  I've lived to tell about those precancerous ones, just as haswaknow did too.

My daughter met them and spent time with them in Key West before the sweetheart was born.  DD fell in love with them because they were just as everyone is seeing them now.  Both sweet, honest and loving people. Their hearts are good and so was their love.  My prayers are with him now because she has moved on.  Trust me, she is keeping an eye on the family that she so loved.

Did my post offend you?  If so, that was NOT my intention.  I just wanted to state that pap smear test results are not always accurate, as in my case.  Perhaps this was also the case with Joey.  We'll never know ...

Just fyi, pap smears are used to detect cervical cancer, not uterine or ovarian cancer.

People seem to be under the misconception that she was diagnosed 2 years ago.  She was diagnosed 12 years ago initially and it returned 2 years ago and had advanced.

I don't know anything about her going for regular check-ups or what happened after her initial diagnosis.  But I think it's pretty crummy to even bring that up on this thread.  The poor woman is only 40 years old and is dead. She left behind a grieving husband and beautiful daughter along with other family members.  

I think if someone wants to remind people to get checked, start a different thread!

In post 15, someone quoted an article that said she was diagnosed in 2004 at the age of 28 and I was repeating from that post.  I've not followed this story.   

However, in looking on-line at various articles, I believe that information is incorrect and for that I apologize.  Everything I have found said she was diagnosed in 2014 shortly after the birth of her daughter.

Regardless, I stand by my opinion that I don't think this is the time to even hint that she should have kept up on routine exams because we don't know what the situation is or was.

When I've read all the latest articles they just seem to mention her cervical cancer 2 years ago. But when you search by asking the question, the TN obituary does say, (and I had read this previously on Wiki and others), that she initially had cervical cancer in 2004 when she was 28. She was treated and it returned in 2012, and then moved to her colon.I don't know why the latest articles are not including this. 

Feek was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2004. After treatment and remission, it returned in June 2014, shortly after she gave birth to the couple's only child, a daughter named Indiana who has Down syndrome. Her cancer spread to her colon in 2015, and by October, she had announced that her diagnosis was terminal.
