"Safe in the arms of Jesus".

Very sad news. RIP Joey ... finally pain free and safely in Heaven.
Watching over her little Indiana and dear husband Rory.

She was very brave. Prayers for her family.

What a beautiful lady with the voice of an angel. So sad. Too young.

Joey lost her battle with cancer today (March 4) at the young age of 40. Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2004 at age 28, much too young. Some of her words from her last interview: "God decided for me that my job of singing for people down here is my legacy, and he needs me singing up there," she said in an interview with 'The Tennessean.' "That's how I look at it."
My heart goes out to Rory and Indiana and two step-daughters, Heidi and Hope, and her family and friends. Joey, rest in peace, and sing, sing, sing.

It's incredibly sad that she is gone, she will be missed by many. RIP Joey and may God comfort your loved ones still left here on earth.

I've kind of been keeping up with Joey & Rory over the last several months as they (Joey) would have their goals of certain days to reach for. They have exhibited such faith, strength, hope, dignity, and courage. In her weakest state Joey's been an example to their children and the rest of us. Rory has been her best supporter. Pain free, cancer free, Joey is rejoicing in the presence of her Savior now - sad for her family, but glorious at the same time. May God bless and comfort her family.

Sad news.
Disn't she have a brother who also lost his life at an early age?

Oh this is so sad. I didn't know a lot about this couple before following her brave journey because I am not big into country music but WOW, they really seemed like a couple that were very in love with each other and had a really lovely family. I feel sorry for their adorable baby. From what I have read his children from a previous marriage were very close to her too.

I thought her baby had Down Syndrome so about a week ago I Googled it and verified that. But in researching that I found that she stated she had never gone to a doctor while pregnant and therefore never had an ultrasound but that didn't matter - she wanted whatever baby God gave her.
But that all made me wonder whether she also had never gone to doctors to get an annual PAP test done. If not, early detection via a simple PAP test may have prevented her death at age 40 from cervical cancer. That would be really tragic.
