Re: Joan Rivers has passed away

I never met Joan or have I seen her perform live but this really hit me hard. I felt very sad when I heard this. Sad for her daughter and grandson who she is so close with. Maybe it's because their close relationship reminded me so much of my own with my daughter. I also greatly admired her for her unbelievable work ethic and I also found her very funny. I realize her humor wasn't for everyone but I liked it and it very rarely left me offended.

I usually feel a little sad when someone famous dies but I don't really feel it on a personal level but this made me feel sad today. I don't remember feeling this sad over someone I didn't know since James Gandolfini.

......, she did support the USO and believed in this nation and that counts greatly with me. I salute her.

In addition to the USO, AIDS research and cystic fibrosis research, Joan was tireless in her support of my favorite organization. -- Guide Dogs for the Blind. Joan was a generous, sincere philanthropist

While I often disagreed with her sense of humor I always had great respect for her work ethic, her intelligence and creativity. I heard nothing but good things about her as a person with regard to charity work and how she treated every day people. I own quite a few early Joan jewelry pieces from the days of the Bee pins and the ladybug bracelets

I just read on Radar Online, that she was resting with a Dennis Basso mink throw and her sweet furbabies were with her, and the room was filled with flowers, she was so loved by many people and will be missed!

I forgot to mention, her funeral will be Sunday in New York.

I thought in the Jewish religion, burial took place almost immediately.

i found this.

Traditionally, burial takes place as soon as possible-within 24 hours. This is not always possible and, given the fact that many modern Jewish families are spread out around the country, it usually becomes necessary to wait a day or two until all of the mourners can arrive. Jewish funerals cannot take place on Shabbat or on most Jewish holidays.
