I never met Joan or have I seen her perform live but this really hit me hard. I felt very sad when I heard this. Sad for her daughter and grandson who she is so close with. Maybe it's because their close relationship reminded me so much of my own with my daughter. I also greatly admired her for her unbelievable work ethic and I also found her very funny. I realize her humor wasn't for everyone but I liked it and it very rarely left me offended.
I usually feel a little sad when someone famous dies but I don't really feel it on a personal level but this made me feel sad today. I don't remember feeling this sad over someone I didn't know since James Gandolfini.

Joan was a generous, sincere philanthropist......, she did support the USO and believed in this nation and that counts greatly with me. I salute her.

I forgot to mention, her funeral will be Sunday in New York.
I thought in the Jewish religion, burial took place almost immediately.
i found this.
Traditionally, burial takes place as soon as possible-within 24 hours. This is not always possible and, given the fact that many modern Jewish families are spread out around the country, it usually becomes necessary to wait a day or two until all of the mourners can arrive. Jewish funerals cannot take place on Shabbat or on most Jewish holidays.
