Well I'm waiting for the thread scolders to invade, but in all honesty while an empty stomach is ideal, it's not always a deal breaker.

And I don't think plastic surgery is considered major surgery.
Think again.
Plastic surgery/Cosmetic Surgery as in a breast augmentation? Tummy tuck? Face lift? Omg, it certainly is major.

There are many more here are only two...
A facelift is a common but major surgery with significant risks and potential complications. You may have less invasive cosmetic or treatment options. Consider getting a second opinion about all of your choices before having a facelift.

In plastic surgery, as in every kind of major surgery, there are always risks and the possibility of complications. Before deciding upon surgery, an affected individual should have a very thorough pre-operative cardiac workup, as well as an evaluation of all other systems. Since many procedures require general anesthesia, Dr. Weinberg particularly emphasized the need for a good, extensive pre-operative evaluation. He recommended that the cardiac workup should include, at the very least, a cardiogram, chest x-ray and ultrasound of the heart. Affected individuals should not smoke for several weeks before the surgery. Smoking is never advisable for those with PXE.

Actually, she admitted to having had a tummy tuck at one point in her life. She described it in one of her books.
A face lift is considered major surgery. When a patient goes in for a consultation and decides to have a face lift, there are numerous release forms that have to be signed and the terminology discusses the seriousness of the surgery. The same with tummy tucks.

I need clarification, don't some cosmetic procedures while classified as elective surgery, still be 'major' by definition? I only ask because when my youngest managed to stuff a stone in his ear, he had to be put under for removal and the specialist considered it 'major'. Scared the heck out of me either way just to be clear, lol.
