Re: Joan Rivers had a heart condition

Here's an interesting video interviewing Larry King & DickCavett. Both are upset how the tabloids are handling JR's investigation.

It might not have been an extra beat or a minor arrythmia, it could have been atrial fibrillation, which is most definitely serious. A-Fib is what killed my mother.

Re: Joan Rivers had a heart condition

I think with all the money that Joan Rivers had, insurance would not be an issue for her. She could afford a hospital room if she wanted one; Medicare or any other type of insurance wouldn't be a concern. For whatever reason, she chose outpatient service.

Re: Joan Rivers had a heart condition

It's not like she went to CVS Mini-Clinic. She went to a private facility on the Upper East Side.

My guess would be that she chose that facility for the privacy rather than going to a large hospital where more people would have knowledge of her visit and might leak the info to the press.

I wouldn't think politic had any role in this tragedy.

I'll wait for the official results/report before any other speculation.

And I don't think plastic surgery is considered major surgery.

Re: Joan Rivers had a heart condition

Joan Rivers was obviously under the impression this was a ""minor"" procedure/test compared to all the major cosmetic surgery procedures she's had over the years and survived each one.

She performed the night before and had dinner very late - obviously not even resting that night before early morning surgery. Melissa wasn't even there at her side since it wasn't a major thing and Joan told friends it was not a serious procedure. Just so tragic and you have to wonder exactly what happened and where were her best doctors advising an 81 year old woman the risks involved in having anesthesia.

Re: Joan Rivers had a heart condition

I also read she went out the night before late after her show and ATE. People think she may have eaten after midnight which you shouldn't do before any procedure. But this is all not verified. So see what comes out of it.

As far as heart conditions my 1st husband (Im remarried for the 2nd time) has had open heart surgery and 8 other heart surgeries over the years (with stents put in), and knee surgery, and he always made it though surgery and never stopped breathing. Of course all of his procedures were done at a hospital. But well, you never know.

People die during surgery IN a Hospital every day. Any surgery where you are put under is risky. The older you are, the riskier it is.
