I was just on a CS homeschooling network website that dissected the ruling/law:

This new law will go into effect for the 2016-17 school year and effectively eliminates all personal belief exemptions from vaccination requirements for all students enrolled in any private or public elementary or secondary school, child care center, day nursery, nursery school, family day care home, or development center in the state of California.

An amendment was included to exempt homeschool students. The amendment states:

“This section does not apply to a pupil in a home-based private school or a pupil who is enrolled in an independent study program pursuant to Article 5.5 (commencing with Section 51745) of Chapter 5 of Part 28 of the Education Code and does not receive classroom-based instruction.”

Our interpretation at this point is that students whose families file a Private School Affidavit or are enrolled in a Private Satellite Program will be exempt from the immunization requirements.

Parents who homeschool in CA need a credential in order for their child's schooling to be legal and valid. So people like crying lady would have to send their kids to someone else's house/school who has the credential.

I have a very good friend who homeschooled her son from 1st grade through 6th or 7th. She had to have the credential the state requires. But she has a doctorate so passing whatever to receive the credential was no biggies for her. Her son did a LOT of activities with other homeschooled kids in their area.

I am a believer in science particularly medical advances. I had been a nurse for 50 years, recently retired....I wouldn't have enough room to count the advances that have made us live longer, healthier and have a good quality of life. I have taken care of children dying of inoperable brain tumors which are now operable....transplantation, genetics, therapies for cancer, intrauterine surgery on children who died before. Stand at the bedside of a patient 50 years ago and now; big big difference....and if you find yourself on the patient end in critical condition as I have, you appreciate advance techniques and therapies that may save your life or a beloved family member because of science and those who search for answers. Be thankful for the SAFE vaccines that have wiped out dreaded diseases..stand at the bedside of a child with encephalitis from measles, talk to a mother with a fetus exposed to rubella or a college age student with meningitis, a young man sterile from mumps...all preventable diseases or conditions if only a parent immunized a child...to not believe in science or medicine in this day and age...I would not want to feel so helpless ....just as a mother who drinks or takes drugs is guilty of fetal abuse...I can say the same of a parent who chooses not to protect her child or endanger the lives of other children or adults at risk.

That must have changed then, a parent never needed credentials in CA

Most states have no requirement, not even a dipolma from high school.

I believe ALL children living in our great country should be vaccinated because we are transient people.

The benefits certainly outweigh the negatives.

I want my children protected and I want them to not cause harm to others.

I've seen what devastating diseases can do here in America and in third world countries.

Many would change their opinions if they had the same opportunity.

Why would any parent not want their child protected? It's common sense. The risks are minimal.

Jim and the mother of his child, however, are convinced the vaccine caused their child's autistic behavior. Their is not enough definitive evidence to support that, but he has the right to think it.

Clarification---it's not his child...it is Jenny McCarthy's child who is autistic. Carey is not the father.

No, "science" was not wrong about the overuse of antibiotics and in fact science was "right" about the overuse and has continually warned about the over prescription and mis-use of anitbiotics (i.e., not taking the full prescribed amount and stopping the dosage when symptoms improved) which has contibuted to the growth of super-bacteria. We should have heeded the warnings of "science."
