There was a time I bought multiple pieces every Gem Day and every Gold Rush. When I was working, everything I wore had to match from shoes to bag to jewelry. Most of those pieces have either been given away or sold when gold was at its highest.

Over the years, my husband gave me some beautiful pieces. When I go out I still love to be decked out. On a daily basis I tend to wear an anniversary band, and a simple pair of earrings.

I use to be a necklace wearer but I no longer wear them very often. I still love bracelets but am not fond of the piling on look. Less is more.

I have costume/less expensive jewelry I have bought for myself and much better stuff that either was inherited ( my grandfather was a jewelry designer so my G'ma had quite a lot of very high quality things) or my DH has given me. I don't buy myself expensive things but I have paid a lot to get some nice stones from G'ma's collection reset. My Grand father gave us as a wedding present reset into a Tiffiany bridge my g'mas 50th anniversary rings . They are way too big and too fancy for my taste and my lifestyle so I store them in our safety deposit box. i consider them an investment - something for our security. When G'pa was alive I would wear them occasionally on special occasions when he would see them but when he died I put them away and that was many years ago.

I have always loved jewelry all my life. But I was only ever interested in the expensive gold pieces that I could never afford. I did manage to gather up a small collection of gold rings. Now that I can afford it, I like to buy pieces like Eternagold or the no name brand pieces that actually have a bit of gram weight (like 3-6 grams for a ring, or 4-7 grams for a bracelet, or 9-12 grams for a necklace). I still can't afford Arte' Doro. Well, maybe one piece, but I'd have to save up for a while for it.

Even though the majority of my collection is 10 and 14 karat gold, I only have about 2 pieces with any substantial weight.

I will buy hoop earrings myself. Other than my diamond studs, hoops are all I wear. I'm a white metals girl, no colored stones. Tennis bracelets, and my Love knot from hubby are my faves. -HIF

Someone in the jewelry forum said the Q's gold buyer said last week on one of the jewelry shows that he will be bringing more gold at a lower cost because of the dropping gold prices. It would be nice if they brought back the heavier, not silicone filled Italian gold pieces.

Kalli, I agree. I love tanzanite, madeira citrine, apatite, smoky quartz, and pearls.

Hey Kalli! Haha, I know! Maybe one of these days. I'm really a plain, no-frills girl with jewelry. Smiley Happy

If I could tell my younger self a thing or two, I would say:

Don't buy fake jewelry. Ever.

Buy quality in whatever it is you're getting. There's junky silver, and there's great silver. Want silver, buy the latter.

Buy D flawless NOW. You'll kick yourself later if you don't. Kick, kick, kick.
