@SXMGirl wrote:@Its Me LuLuBelle2 I am amazed just watching him. He must have an eidetic memory to know so much about everything. If next year they have that challenge of winners, I know what team I will pick.
@SXMGirl, my DH said the same exact thing. But dang girl, I'm an extremely avid reader, history being my big thing, I'm a huge news junky and I don't think I'm a dummy, but how can you possibly be exposed to the amount of information this guy spits out? Did he hear it on the news once? Did he read it in passing somewhere? I'm in awe of Jeopardy contestants in general, but the really good ones (and James is one of the best) have my utmost respect and admiration. They prove :"smart" never goes out of style!
Totally agree!
You read the questions and have to buzz in so fast. Most people need a few seconds to process and give the correct reply.
The one that blew me away... you had to come up with the moons of Uranus. I believe it was James that answered correctly on that one.
...totally amazing!!

He is so fast in answering. By the time I read the captions he’s on to the next Question!
I recall watching the original $64,000 question. Everyone thought he was smart.

For the first time in my life, we are actually taping the shows.
No worries, I don't consider this a spoiler!
I was so turned off by the championships/teams this last time. So much of the show was non sense about the players and picking teams. Not enough true Jeopardy!
So we started taping them so we could skip. Now we are waaaay behind, but have Jeopardy binges when time allows.
Can't wait to see this guy.
Just finished watching ones where the woman was a chronic buzzer pusher. Hysterical.

Lucky charm,
That "chronic buzzer" woman on the championship team drove me nuts. She held the buzzer high and pushed it with such force and mania.

@Lucky Charm, first, I agree 100% with your assessment of the the Team Champion Tournament. I was underwhelmed as well. One of my favorite players, Alex Jacob, certainly did not shine.
If I may offer an unsolicited piece of advice - skip over the episodes between then and now. You're not watching anything worth seeing. Start with James on his first day and start watching live.
James is a phenom. He's smart, humble and likeable. He's not the showboater Austin Rogers was and is a helluva lot smarter. To see this guy in action is a wonder to behold. When he bets HUGE money, the audience audibly gasps. And he gets it right! He definitely is the guy you WANT to see win. And not just in my opinion, but clearly those who have responded to this post feel the same way. Enjoy! LuLu

Love when he hits a Daily Double and bets it all!!! Amazing. Every time I think about not tuning in, there's always a contestant who changes my mind. Thank goodness for recording.

I try and catch Jeopardy because I do like to challenge myself! I saw him on Monday,
but missed it tonite because we were finishing up spreading a trailer full of mulch.
On Monday I was watching him closely because he was super smart. I agree, he must have a photographic memory. That is unreal! I will be sure to catch him tomorrow.
On another note, I once had a supervisor with a photographic memory. OMG it was awful! While I forgot my excuses and lies, she didn’t 😖. Was relieved when she retired lol.

I just read an article about him in a local paper (he is from a suburb of Chicago). It was very interesting. His $ bets correlate to his family’s birthdays. And he only does things he loves - he was a math major at U of IL but he said he really majored in on line poker, his true love.
Google his name for the story it’s interesting

I wish Alex had not mentioned Ken Jennings. Could have jinxed him. I'll be watching.
