Retired racing legend Jeff Gordon has zoomed to the top of ABC's short list to succeed Michael Strahan as Kelly Ripa's new Live co-host, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Gordon has experience sitting alongside Ripa. During the Live With Regis and Kellyera, he served as Ripa's sidekick nine times. (He even did a stint opposite Reege in 2001 before Ripa came on board).
He most recently appeared on the show in June 2015, but just as a guest.
He seems to have such a super nice personality.

I believe he and his wife are friends with Kelly & her DH. I don't watch this show but he is great at narrating the races.

Have met Jeff and he is just as nice and personable as you see. I think he is someone who realizes how fortunate he has been in life and is always willing to acknowledge where he came from and thank those who have contributed to his success. Just down to earth kinda guy when I met him.😊

I'm sure after a few weeks with her ego, he will want to get in his racecar and tear out of there as fast as he can. She's obnoxious!

Good for Jeff. He was never one of my favorites on the Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup races, but any true race fan has to respect all he accomplished as a driver during his long career.
I have watched on Fox and Fox Sports 1 from the first Sprint Cup race as a TV Race Analyst, and he adds to the up dated knowledge of Darrel Waltrip. Waltrip did not race in this new computerized technological type of race cars, and Jeff does a great job filling in that gap. I am all for Fox keeping him on the races.
Have seen Jeff with Kelly one time and I thought he did very well. Have no idea how he would do on a regular basis, but there are lots of Nascar fans out there they may tune in to see him.

I could not care less. I do not watch her, and I don't care for him.

I"d probably watch the show if Andy Cohen was on. But, he won't be. He's too busy. I think he's funny and he's good friends with her. But, that "aint" happening so I won't watch. Though I like Anderson Cooper, I wouldn't watch even if he was on.
She bores me.

I remember the first time he appeared on For Race Fans Only. He was 23-24 years old and I was impressed at how articulate he was. Really well spoken. I also remember another time when he had to take over the show for a couple minutes because Dan Hughes was coughing and needed water and some time to recover. Jeff did very well and didn't miss a beat.
I think he'd do well on Live with Kelly.

I want him to keep doing the Sprint Cup race commentary! If he takes this job, will he be able to do both?

hope not, love him he's always been my race driver, can't stand her or the show.
