Re: JUST CURIOUS....

[ Edited ]

Last week I had three packages I thought were lost. I usually go to the website and change delivery to Will Call and pick them up myself, but at last minute my SupePost didn't get delivered by my mailman who doesn't make errors often, & UPS said they'd be in my area instead. UPS quit having a regular driver on my route and it's always someone new. Well, my packages showed as delivered but my porch was bare. Before I could do anything, a guy down the street brought them to me and he opened one thinking it was his. He claims. It wasn't anything a guy would want, but if it was I wonder if he would have kept all three? I let UPS know he couldn't check 3 addresses,& set it up that a signature is required now. It's happened before,  but they usually give it to next door. The numbers didn't match at all down the street.

I just don't get it!  Obviously the name and correct address are on the package.  It was delivered just a few streets away;  why not just walk/drive over to the correct address and place it in the box???  Or, even easier, put it back in your own box with a "wrong address" note.  How do some people sleep at night???

@grandma r had a package I was supposed to get delivered to wrong house once.  Same #s but different street about 3 streets away.  Showed delivered.  Was an uninsured eBay package.  Took those lovely neighbors 3 weeks to finally write...not at this address..on the envelope.  Guess they were too busy.  They hadn't opened it.

Before you assume the homeowner kept it, consider the thieves who follow UPS trucks and retrieve packages from porches as soon as he truck drives away.

@Lapdog  I had all my prescription meds misdelivered by FedEx when I had Caremark, and no they won't replace them at no cost.  They were left next door, the parents were away and young adult children brought the package in and tossed it aside.  I eventually got my meds when mom and dad got home, but first I wrangled with Caremark.  I don't know how they get away with no insuring their shipments.

If the package had a tracking number on it, it would clearly show the address it was delivered to.  At least the packages I get shows it.

How does the PO know it really got delivered to the 2nd address? Sorry but I don't think they can unless the homeowner signed for it. Maybe they really didn't get it & the sub mail carrier got it wrong again.

I think it's entirely possible that the "wrong" addressee didn't get it either.  Sorry, but I just don't trust the post office.
