Just yesterday I sent an email to the "letters" page of the Post regarding how much I appreciate the direction Mr. Bezos has taken the newspaper. I have never written to the editors before. Yes, I write a compliment or two to a reporter every now and then, but I never wrote to the editors until yesterday. And, lo and behold, I complimented the guy who is now the richest man in the world. My compliment and his billions made -- what a world. LOL
I wouldnt use the WaPo to line a litter box. jmho.

Good. Send yours over my way.
Their reporting has been stellar.

Not really. He was "funded" by a group I won't mention here (you can research it). He's been propped up for a reason.
Buy LOCAL, or from any other online company.

I am not finding anything dastardly. He left a wall street career to set up Amazon in his garage. He made his first millions selling Amazon stock.
A hint at your source, please?

Is Bezos the richest man in the world or the US? I thought I just heard on the news Vlad Putin was the richest man in the world. Seriously.

No wonder you-know-who adores him.

I think if not him someone like him will be elected to high office in a few years. I think the paradigm of the career politician is about dead. I see a lot of changes coming in the next decade. Yes, this country is changing rapidly and drastically.
I'm not coming out for any side or outlook, but just saying I predict this trend.

I'm not an Amazon shopper, just don't understand their appeal.
Amazon isn't a darling that some paint it to be. They miss earnings consistently, including this week. Guess Prime Day wasn't all that?
Bezos spends it as fast as Amazon rakes it in. Always chasing the next big thing. He sold quite a bit of his own stock holdings earlier this year. That should tell you something.
Well, I'm off to shop the local farmers market!

@Snowpuppy, I don't belong to Amazon Prime, but the information I saw certainly doesn't support the info above. The release I saw stated that this past Amazon Prime day outperformed last year with an increase of 60% from Prime Day in 2016 along with Amazon producing a strong 2nd quarter report.
I don't know if Bezos sold any stock but according to CNBC he owns 79.9 million shares of Amazon stock and has added $45 billion over just the past 2 years to his fortune.
I did hear some discussion on CNBC that Amazon is going strong and that the recent results are anticipated due to the purchases Amazon has made so the analysts at CNBC aren't too concerned.
Doesn't sound too shabby to me. Heck, I would be happy to have just to have a quarter of one billion dollars. lol
Can't change the facts just because someone isn't a fan. I don't know how well they will do, but right now doesn't appear that Amazon is hurting one iota. However, nothing is guaranteed for the future.

Amazon just reported today that they are 70% BELOW analysts expectations for profit.
