There's over 105,000 Americans at age 100 or more ..... and people are living longer every year. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

In fact, it's plausible that anyone reading this could live to be 100.

So.......... subtract your current age from 100 .... how many years do you have left, and what do you plan to do with them? {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I can only speak for myself, but living to 100 and beyond? No thank you.

Subtract 75 from 100? Simple math, and I explained what I am doing with it every day I have left.

My grandfather lived to 95, and he looked pretty darn good! Smiley Happy He only got sick within the last year of his life; he got congestive heart failure. He could have lived longer if he'd listened to the docs and slowed his routine down. He was of sound mind, and not on any other meds. But he couldn't alter his hard-working lifestyle. I think he just "left" of his own accord. Smiley Happy My grandmother lived until one month shy of her 97th birthday. Same situation. They both remained youthful in mind and never talked about getting older. They just lived their lives. I think.this is a pretty good way to live.

Just look at it this way... You've had more years than many children and young adults with terminal illnesses or chronic illness will ever see.

There are children and young adults that will never experience all life has to offer.

Be happy with the years you've been given. Too many children and young adults aren't as lucky. But they have made the most of their lives. Many will never graduate from high school or grade school for that matter. Never find the love of their life. Never marry or experience the joy of having children of their own.

You've been blessed with a full life. Smile.

Hi, Ford, I was very sick and expected to die when I was 28. I try to take one day at a time and never took my earlier years for granted.

It is still unsettling to hear very far dates for projects, I agree. We expect this to happen in 2050. Etc. Happens in FL all the time because there is no money for projects so they progress at a snail's pace.

Here's a typically grim New England joke: I grew up there and to me it's normal. Clerk at store: "Well, I'll see you tomorrow." Customer, after a pause: "Maybe...." New Englanders feel as if it is bad luck to hopeful.

Older people can't project far forward but nobody on the planet can--it's just the truth. Anything can happen to anyone at any time. That's the joy of life and the anxiety.

Like you, what I feel most about age is the burden of loss of people I love.

I had cancer that is in remission but not cured so it will come back. No, I do not have another 40 years. How do I deal with it? My outlook: this us the last segment of my life and I'm going to enjoy it. I'm not going to worry about stuff, just make every day enjoyable. I am also making peace with fatality of life.

It will be a while before I become a grandma, who knows? but all you grandparents and great aunts and uncles must realize how important you are to your families, I sincerely hope you are!

My kids adored and were blessed to know their great grandfather (born 1914)... he told them stories of his youth, the pranks he played with friends on beggar's night, how he hitched across the states after high school and the people he met along the way, the terrible dust bowl and depression, what he wrote to Thomas Edison while in grade school because he admired him so... He spoke about how a handshake was better than any written contract, and if you had two nickels you gave one to a friend who needed it before he had to ask. The boys loved listening to him! I think the kids' interest and respect for older people now has everything to do with what they learned being around their great granddad. There are some things no other generation can teach with experience. He passed away at home at 81. A blessed man.

He taught me to live every day with something to look forward to, a reason to get out of bed. I figure it's my turn on the earth, might as well do what I can now!
