Re: It’s That Time Of Year

@Jordan2   Haven't you brought this topic up in previous years too?  If not you, someone has because I remember Pinwheels also being mentioned.

@Cakers3 I never cared for Devil Dogs I found them dry. I remember when Funny Bones actually had real PB in it not that cream they later had. As a whole I was more of a Hostess kid rather than a Drake's.

@Jordan2  Ooh I remember Funny Bones with the real PB.

Hostess had a bakery in Massachusetts. I don't know if it is still there but there were Wonder Hostess outlets too where you could buy discounted goodies.

Yes Devil Dogs could be dry but the Whoopie Pies we baked at home were moist like a good cake.

Entemann's eventually made it's way into  New England too.

Gads now I want something sweet. 🤪

@Cakers3  As a kid I loved devil dogs.  A few years back I must have had a nostalgic moment and bought some.  They were ok, but sure didn't taste the same to me.  Guess receipts change through the years or my taste changed.

@Biftu  I remember when the devil dogs were huge and cost 5 cents.

Then they went up to 10 cents and were a tad shorter.

Today if they are still around one could probably shove a whole one in the  mouth with one bite 😧

@Jordan2  What a fun thread!

Remember Snowballs- round cakes covered in that pink coconut stuff that was thick and kind of stretchy almost. I didn't like those at all.

Loved Hostess chocolate covered cupcakes filled with white cream and

they had the white squiggle across the top.

And of course Twinkies.

It's a wonder I still have all my teeth.

Back to Mallomars- I've seen them on Amazon but the reviews were negative. Stale, smashed, some melted.

I'm jealous for those who can get them now.☹️😠

I still look for them down here at the store where I bought them but it's not meant to be. A knock off brand but not the original.👎

@Cakers3 don't forget SuzyQs! I use to eat the squiggly line off the cupcake, then peel the chocolate icing off, then eat the cupcake.
