@bathina  I have never seen anyone pull up to our food pantry in Cadillacs, either. You can tell who is hungry..We never ask for anything but ID..we keep records ,and people are allowed to come one a month...It seems to me the poor have  not much chance to keep their dignity

I think I was 10 or 11. My father walked out when my baby brother was born. Even at that age I felt shame. Thank God for kind relatives who helped us out when they could. There were plenty of winters we went DAYS with no heat or hot water until my grandmother found out. The oil truck at the house was like seeing Santa.

My heart breaks for people who have no family support. The stress must be unbearable.

Sounds like a lot of gyrations to make her own money. I suspect she cannot ask her husband for spending money, so this is how she earns it. Some wealthy women consign their designer clothes so they have cash.

I'd rather work outside the home than have to ask permission to spend money.

I make no judgement on the morality of her "job" except to say it would be immoral and illegal to not report her earnings on her tax returns.

When one sells over a certain dollar amount, Ebay reports the earnings to the IRS.  As a seller only selling every now and then, I never fell in that category.

I'm confused. Why are we talking about the food bank? Is someone accusing this lady that @Abrowneyegirl is talking about of selling food bank items or government cheese on Ebay for a profit? That would be incredibly tacky AND immoral AND possibly illegal.

Because someone decided to compare a wealthy woman to people who receive food stamps and benefit from a food bank. SAD

It's unethical to me.  I'd hope TJ Maxx and others catch on and throw her out of their stores.

I can't swear this is true, but I have read ,many clothes that don't sell ,go straight to the dump..They don't want these items sold at reduced prices. It cheapens the brand, it what is claimed

Clever business idea.

If there's a demand, she's fulfilling the need.

Gary Vaynerchuk, the popular entrepreneur/speaker,
is famous (for a lot of things) but one is flipping garage sale

finds on eBay.

Flipping takes a lot of work...and the its a right-margin market.

Good for her to be that resourceful.

Think it was on GMA one morning they were doing one of those holiday look out for scams, return policies, etc.  They said they take your picture nowdays when you become a serial returner. Your on camera anyway, so, they just click on the picture and put it in a profile.

Some channel I remember being surprised didn't know that.

Re: It is not illegal but is immoral?

@cherry   Yes this is true for a VERY small fraction of designers out there.  For example Burberry and Chanel - they will destroy as in shred or burn clothes.  They do not sell unsold stock to discount stores.

Re: It is not illegal but is immoral?

@Abrowneyegirl  to me immoral means someone is harming another. She might be working the system, but I, don't see her defrauding anyone.. she is buying at an agreed price, and returning what she doesn't want

I wouldn't want to be the one stuck refunding her, but , unless it is stated she can't return her items, she isn't breaking any laws

Re: It is not illegal but is immoral?

Seems like an awful lot of work for how much profit?

The time spent shopping, listing, mailing, percentage to ebay, Poshmark, returns, gas, mailing supplies.

Is it really worth it?
