Earlier today I was feeling hungry, so I decided to go to Subway and get a sandwich. (Foot long cold cut combo on 9 grain wheat).

When I got there, there were three people in front of me.

At the very front, was a young man.

He was about to pay for his sandwich, when his radio went off.

He asked the girl behind the counter if she could hold his sandwich, and that he would be back later to pay for it.

She said that she would.

Again the emergency tones sounded on his radio, and I watched him as he left, and walk back across the street to his fire house.

In fact, I could see the fire station from where I was standing.

I got my sandwich made, and as I went to pay for mine, I saw the fire fighter's sandwich all wrapped up, sitting on the counter.

And in a total spur of the moment, I asked if I could also pay for the the fire fighter's sandwich.

The two young women behind the counter looked a little surprised at my question, but said that I could.

I said that they do so much for us, especially with the fires south of me.

As I paid for both sandwiches, I had a feeling of happiness come over me.

I know that what I did was a small thing, but it was my way of saying "Thank-you" for what they do, even if it was just buying a sandwich.

@Plaid Pants2. . . .    Thank you for the generous act of kindness you showed to someone who was both a stranger and one of our heroes. You are a sweet and thoughtful person. How much nicer of a place this world would be if more folks would commit random acts of kindness, like you did today, instead of random acts of violence, like we hear about all too often. Way to go, and Bravo to you, @Plaid Pants2!!!HeartHeart

Hugs. . .
