When I was teaching I considered the first day of school synonymous with the first day of fall! Now, I want to enjoy the rest of summer! I, too, love fall, but I, too, am sick of everything being rushed! Pretty soon the Valentine decorations will be put out October 1! Live is going too fast as it is, no need to rush it artificially! I love the fact that Nordstrom refuses to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving ! Don't people know that to everything there is a season?🙄

@Imadickens... and a time for every matter under heaven...

I am glad to hear about the Nordstrom decorating policy.

This happens every year....we will be seeing Christmas commercials before we know it.

Heck, Hallmark Channel starts playing Christmas movies the day after Halloween! Which is very annoying.

I just love it when the tv news shows start showing "back to school" items, and a lot of the US in already back in school. We started 3 weeks ago.

@colliegirls  I agree with you!  I hate fall, the leaves changing, falling, and then winter, everything brown and dead looking, dirty snow.  To me, autum is death and winter is the funeral.  No greenery, no sunshine, no warmth......I could go on and on.

@RedHeadedWench  I thought it was the day after Thanksgiving??  I love their Christmas movies.....they all have happy endings, are clean, no bad language, but I agree that after Halloween would be too soon!

You two both need to start following the sun - become snowbirds! Eternal summer.

I wish we would get the cool nights and mornings already.  We had 2 nights that were in the upper 50's.  Otherwise it is still super humid at night and in the mornings.  Some mornings I walk out to go to work and the air feels like soup.  It's gross.

Most of our schools went back 2 weeks ago.  We have 1 more area that doesn't go back until the day after Labor Day.

Last year Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas began October 31.  I remember thinking I was giving out Halloween candy and they were showing x-mas movies.

I believe it begins this year on the same date.

I live in Central Florida. It will probably be "summer" here until the end of October. Yes, this is also different than Labor Day or the first day of fall.

I think a lot of the way people feel about the seasons and holidays revolves around what the pace of your life is.  If you are working, busy, trying to get things accomplished and having too much to do, you are delighted the Christmas movies come right after Halloween because YIPEE!!! you might get to see one or two of them!

If you have a slower pace of life and time to get things done and slow down and experience summer and fall and the holidays, you might feel differently.

Busy people have a hard time experienceing the seasons.  I'd hoped for time to enjoy this summer the way I wanted to, and things cropped up and now it is gone and I am VERY VERY sad about it.  I hate I didn't get enough summer this year or last.  Fall? I haven't noticed fall in years--maybe this year!

Me too!! I hate seeing the change of seasons so quickly when I'm not ready! My Costco had their Halloween costumes out a few weeks ago. That's retail for you, and I think I saw some Christmas stuff at Target?? It's still technically summer to me. BUT it's been so foggy here that I haven't seen the sun and so the other day the air felt different and the sun finally came out after weeks, and it's positioned differently. Felt like fall that day. And the weird thing is Sept-Oct are our warmest months of the year :/ which throws me off. Anyways, I'm with you!
