We've got 3 weeks of summer remaining. That's 1 week shy of a whole month. Everywhere I look, on the TV, on line, everywhere, people are saying that summer is over. Fall fashion, fall cooking, local news, etc. Anyone else annoyed with this ? I love the fall, it's probably my favoritre season. But Labor Day does not mean the end of summer. Labor Day and the first day of Fall are 2 completely different things. Just because they are close together in time why do people link them together. Just like the start of Summer and Memorial Day. One has nothing to do with the other. Maybe it's just me....

I'm with you, PhilaLady1!  We're still in mid-90s weather here and we're not anywhere near feelin' Fall yet.  I saw Christmas decor out at Hobby Lobby like a month ago - it's unbelievable how they hurry the seasons along.

It's just you . .  lol . . after Labor Day, our Fall/Winter schedules kick in again, regardless of the weather. Kids go back to school. Personally, I return to choir practice and weekly Bible study. and with my work schedule, it just gets busier again. For me, Labor Day is the end of my Summer schedule.

Of course the fashion is out now. that's the norm. And the same with crafting stores like Hobby Lobby, it takes time to craft items. You have to do it ahead of time.

Sorry, @PhilaLady1 I think the vagaries of life (school begin/end) and the calendar people are conspiring against you!

How many time as a kid did I hear no white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day --- the defining anthem of summer!  And half the stations on my radio have "the 100 days of summer" contests.

Probably not many actually pull out a calendar to look up Sept 22 to see what date signifies fall; to most its just summer begins w/ Memorial Day and ends Labor Day.

Our kids have already been back in school a week or two depending on the district.  That pretty much puts and end to summer and puts our minds and schedules into fall mode.

If you still want summer clothing, there are tons of things on sale right now in every store.  For me, and I'm 82 now, Labor Day still means the return to school and the beginning of the fall season.  (Don't give a flip about what the calendar says!!).

It'll be 96 here again today, but I well recall when we lived in Connecticut (my favorite place to be) my kids wore light weight jackets to school on the first day. Loved it!! It's never really fall here. Our leaves just go brown and fall everywhere.  None of that lovely fall color.  I'm ready to get into fall clothing when and if it ever turns cooler here, so that's what I am into buying right now. Not more summer stuff!

I understand what you're saying, but for some of us autumn is giving us a sneak peek.  Here in Albuquerque, the temperature's dropping and we're already getting some fall color.  Soon we'll be stocking our roasted green chile.

It's my favorite season, so I can't wait until it's official.

Anyone remember the days before schools were air conditioned? It was HOT! But it was still Fall because we were in school. I went to an air conditioned school for the first time my Senior year.
